Season2 tasks him with finding Ji Moon, missing brother of boxer Danny Moon. The case leads to gangs and corrupt deputy Lieutenant Vega. His alien traits—healing fast, moving objects with his mind—rarely matter. The show drags out alien lore slowly, linking his kindness (hiring Val after she jacks his car) to his alienness awkwardly. The Season2 premiere streams on Apple TV, with new episodes weekly on Friday.
Streaming platforms like Apple TV fight to stand out in a crowded market. High-concept twists are one way, but they need to serve the story. Sugar’s alien angle doesn’t add depth to the mystery or character. If the show doesn’t fully commit to the sci-fi or drop it, it’ll lose viewers who come for the noir, not the half-baked twist.
