47 Years Later, The Most Hardcore Sci-Fi Show You’ve Never Heard Of Is Being Rebooted
BBCWhen someone talks about 1970s sci-fi focused on a band of rebels fighting an evil, totalitarian space regime, your mind will almost certainly jump to the original If that doesn’t come to mind, you might think of the , or even the TV and film adaptations of Logan’s Run. But the quirkiest and most under-the-radar 1970s sci-fi rebellion show was Created by Terry Nation (the creator of the Daleks), Blake’s 7 was ahead of its time when it first aired in 1978. And now, after nearly five decades, it’s finally making a comeback.A reboot of Blake’s 7 is in development, and just like the original series, there’s a Doctor Who connection. Here’s what we know so far, and why this is excellent news for fans hungry for a new, subversive space opera similar to Andor.According to reports, Peter Hoar—who directed two critically acclaimed episodes of The Last of Us and three —is reviving Blake’s 7 with producers Matthew Bouch and Jason Haigh-Ellery. The series will be produced by Multitude Productions, which Deadline calls a “genre-based” production company, hinting that more new sci-fi shows could emerge from this group. For those who don’t know, Blake’s 7 follows Blake (originally portrayed by Gareth Thomas), who leads the crew of the Liberator in their fight against the oppressive Federation. “Seven” refers to the other crew members, though the lineup changed over the show’s four seasons. In fact, Blake wasn’t a regular character after Season 2.Two crewmembers of the original Blake’s 7. | Radio Times/Radio Times/Getty ImagesThe show starts as a space prison-break story, then transitions into an episodic series about our heroes waging small battles against the tyranny of the Federation’s Earth Administration and other related villains. Even by the standards of its era, Blake’s 7 had low production values, but its premise and tone felt far ahead of its time. By rebooting the concept with a modern perspective, Hoar and his team could have a hit on their hands. When Ronald D. Moore and David Eick relaunched Battlestar in 2003, it was a curious, underappreciated sci-fi franchise. Today, that reboot has arguably outshone the original and become synonymous with great 21st-century science fiction.Could the same happen with Blake’s 7? It’s been over 20 years since a cult British sci-fi show was rebooted—back when returned in 2005. While more obscure, Blake’s 7 might be in the same position: it has enough of a solid franchise foundation to interest long-time fans, but plenty of room to reimagine the series with new ideas, new characters, and, of course, a modern budget. If the new Blake’s 7 comes together and taps into the original show’s potential, we could be looking at the start of the next socially relevant sci-fi series—one that hopefully lasts longer than Andor. The original Blake’s 7 is available on Blu-ray and can be rented on Apple TV, Prime Video, and other platforms.
After 8 Years, an Underrated Defender Could Debut in the MCU
NetflixThe uncertainty surrounding whether Netflix's Marvel series are part of the official Marvel Cinematic Universe canon persists, but Daredevil: Born Again demonstrated that fans are largely unconcerned about this distinction. Charlie Cox's return alone was considered an achievement many thought impossible, and the series has expanded the potential for Daredevil and his supporting characters. Krysten Ritter will return as Jessica Jones in Born Again Season 2, and Marvel Television is rumored to be working toward a genuine Defenders reunion.Since Born Again has already brought together half of the street-level superhero team, could Mike Colter's Luke Cage and Finn Jones' Iron Fist be next in line? While Jones has shown considerable enthusiasm about reprising his role, Colter has remained more reserved. During a recent interview, he stated, "I was giving no one hope before." However, following a positive development, his return to the MCU appears increasingly likely. After nearly a decade away, will Luke Cage have acquired some new hoodies? | Netflix"I've had conversations, and I'll leave it at that," Colter commented. While he didn't disclose details about these discussions, the actor appears enthusiastic about the possibility of returning to the character after almost a decade.Colter explained to Stockman that when Luke Cage was canceled eight years ago, he was satisfied moving on from the series. "When it wrapped... I love playing Luke Cage, [but] I love doing other things," he admitted. He has indeed kept busy, leading various projects and appearing in films such as Plane. Following this period away, however, Colter now appears prepared to return to the role."Now I think I've reached the point where I'm like, 'There's some unfinished business,'" Colter remarked. "And, y'know, Daredevil's back. Jessica's back. So I would say we're in a better position to see this coming to fruition faster than we think. We'll see."Might Luke Cage appear in Born Again Season 2? Possibly not. However, with speculation circulating, we may soon receive similar news regarding Colter's bulletproof hero.
Iranian soldier sentenced to death for refusing to shoot at protesters amid nationwide unrest
A young soldier who declined to follow orders to fire on protesters during one of Iran’s most intense nationwide unrest surges has been sentenced to death, a human rights group reported on Tuesday. The Iran Human Rights Society (IHRS) identified the soldier as Javid Khales, who was arrested during the of 1404—a major wave of anti-regime demonstrations spanning late 2025 to early 2026 that called for an end to the country’s current dictatorship."According to informed sources, when faced with the command to shoot at protesting people, he refused to carry out the order, leading to his immediate arrest and the opening of a case against him," IHRS stated. The group noted that witnesses claim Khales, now held at Isfahan prison, did not commit any crime but refused to shoot as an act of humanity. While the unrest has already resulted in thousands of arrests and deaths among protesters, Khales’ planned execution further raises concerns about unfair, state-sanctioned killings and rushed trials that deny defendants proper legal protections."Amid the continuation of protests and the intensification of deadly repression against the people, the news of Javid Khales—a young soldier who refused to shoot at protesters—being sentenced to death has heightened concerns about a new wave of ," the human rights group said."This sentence comes at a time when judiciary officials have openly spoken of summary trials and the swift execution of death sentences against those arrested in the protests."IHRS reported that a judiciary spokesperson and the , in separate statements, emphasized that cases involving dissidents must be resolved as quickly as possible—raising concerns that executions could take place outside proper legal procedures. Human rights sources say many detainees have remained in custody without access to a lawyer or a fair trial. The organization added that Khales’ death sentence is seen as part of a broader effort to instill fear, "enforce absolute obedience and intensify protest repression."Over the past several days, the government has shut down and restricted internet access nationwide to prevent protesters from organizing. say the blackout was also a strategic move to conceal the realities on the ground and suppress public reaction.Precise details were unavailable regarding Khales’ case, his current status or the judicial process.
Armed militias discharge heavy machine guns through Tehran streets in deadly nighttime attacks
Gunfire reverberated through Tehran on Tuesday as [certain forces] were dispatched across the Iranian capital, turning some districts into fortified areas under tight security.Video footage revealed bursts of automatic gunfire after dusk, with government buildings, state media sites, and major intersections reportedly under guard, and armored pickups along with masked fighters patrolling the streets in Toyotas. The trucks, equipped with heavy machine guns, moved in convoys with weapons firing into the night while armed individuals shouted orders. In the video, large-caliber guns could be heard clattering as vehicles navigated through urban streets."Ali Safavi, a senior official of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), told [media outlet] Digital, "Dozens of Toyotas equipped with heavy machine guns (DShK) and other heavy weaponry have been deployed."He stated, "They are reportedly being utilized by elements associated with Lebanese Hezbollah and the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).""Their commander speaks Farsi, and these fighters are PMF and Hezbollah fighters who have joined the IRGC. The IRGC are their commanders, and you can hear them shouting in Farsi."According to Safavi, the Iranian regime has increasingly relied on foreign proxy forces to maintain control of the capital. He explained, "The regime has now brought in at least 5,000 foreign elements from Iraq and Hezbollah to control Tehran.""They are guarding government buildings, state radio and TV, and using heavy machine guns, which are Russian-made and .50 caliber."Safavi also added, "At night, there are ongoing fierce clashes and street battles between protesters and special unit forces."The footage came to light as the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported Day 24 of nationwide protests marked by a persistent communications blackout. The agency stated, "The number of confirmed deaths has reached 4,519, while the number of deaths still under investigation is 9,049," and added that at least 5,811 people have been seriously injured and 26,314 arrested.HRANA reports also described a massive security presence, especially with law enforcement, the IRGC, Basij units, and plainclothes agents after nightfall, creating an atmosphere of intimidation and fear as described by the group. The first protests started on Dec. 28 and quickly spread nationwide, fueled by economic grievances and opposition to clerical rule.Demonstrations have continued despite mass arrests, use of lethal force, and internet shutdowns.Safavi stated, "Sometimes the protesters stand their ground against gunfire, ammunition, and volleys of tear gas."He alleged that IRGC units attacked a hospital in Gorgan, killing wounded patients, placing snipers on rooftops, and firing into surrounding areas. He claimed, "They then transported around 76 bodies to a warehouse and are refusing to hand them over to families because the forces want to bury them secretly."Supreme Leader Ayatollah [name] has repeatedly blamed foreign enemies for the unrest while supporting the IRGC's response.President Trump warned Iran on Tuesday that continued assassination threats from Tehran leaders would prompt overwhelming retaliation.Trump told [media outlet], "If anything ever happens, we're going to blow the whole thing — the entire country will get blown up."NCRI President-elect [name] rejected the idea that external military action could topple the regime. She stated in a statement, "A foreign war cannot bring down this regime. What is needed is an organized nationwide resistance rooted in active, combat-ready forces within Iran's cities to defeat one of the world's most brutal and repressive apparatuses today — the IRGC."
MHI-TC Delivers Self-Propelled Mobile Seaport Passenger Boarding Bridge to Yokohama City, Entering Service on January 13th
TOKYO, Jan 21, 2026 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Transportation and Construction Engineering, Ltd. (MHI-TC), a part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group, has built and completed delivery to Yokohama City of the Mitsubishi Marine Bridge (MMB), a self-propelled mobile seaport passenger boarding bridge (SPBB). Manufactured at MHI's Mihara Machinery Works in Hiroshima Prefecture, the MMB was put into service at Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal on January 13. Capable of connecting to the large cruise ships that dock at Osanbashi, this is MHI-TC's first delivery of a mobile MMB.The MMB protects passengers from inclement weather and temperature, ensuring safe, secure, and comfortable passenger movement. In addition, passengers do not need to descend to the wharf, enhancing security and making more effective use of wharf space. The autonomous driving function of the mobile MMB was designed by MHI-TC by applying technology developed for the company's fully automated docking system for airport passenger boarding bridges (PBBs). The main characteristics are as follows.Features of the Mobile MMB Developed by MHI-TC1. 16-wheel independent steering control Mobility is made possible by eight-wheeled, independently controlled steering units at the front and rear of the MMB. These steering controls allow the bridge to turn at the end of the pier, so it can potentially operate on both the Shinko side and Yamashita side of the wharf.2. GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) automated drivingThe mobile MMB is equipped with an automated driving function utilizing GNSS. This autonomous driving function is based on technology developed for the fully automated docking system for airport PBBs.3. Flexible docking systemThe flexible docking system is adaptable to different docking positions on the terminal side, and different passenger access door positions on the ship side.4. Self-generated powerThe front and rear driving units on the MMB are each equipped with generators, making an external power supply unnecessary. As an environmental feature, it is possible to switch to a land-based power supply when in use as a bridge.5. Trackless drivingSince the MMB does not need rails or other tracks, the wharf can be used efficiently for cargo handling and the passage of related vehicles.6. Move/Standby functionWhen not in use, the MMB can move to a position where it will not be in the way.7. Universal DesignFollowing the design philosophy of passenger boarding bridges, the mobile MMB has a gently sloping ramp for passengers to move between the terminal and the ship. The Port of Yokohama opened in 1859, and the current Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal was completed in 2002. It is the port of registry for the cruise ships ASUKAⅡ and ASUKAⅢ, and one of the top ports in Japan for the number of cruise ship visits. Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal is also a tourist attraction, visited by more than three million people annually.MHI-TC will continue to contribute to the safe and smooth operation of ships through the manufacture and delivery of mobile MMBs.About MHI GroupMitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group is one of the world’s leading industrial groups, spanning energy, smart infrastructure, industrial machinery, aerospace and defense. A Stunning Star Wars Alteration Rectifies Its Strangest Blunder
Orlando Sentinel/Tribune News Service/Getty ImagesWhen Disneyland announced the “Star Wars land” called Galaxy’s Edge in 2015, one word was repeatedly emphasized: . This was a place where Star Wars not only seemed real but also felt real on a particular planet, Batuu, at a specific moment in history: between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. Every aspect, from the ride featuring Rey Skywalker and Kylo Ren to the , had an in - universe story behind it.However, over the past decade, variety has taken precedence over continuity. The setting of Galaxy’s Edge has gradually become less focused, from the inclusion of The Mandalorian characters (even though the show is set decades earlier) to the rebranding of food and drinks away from their often confusing Star Wars names. Now, this change has become official. The immersion in Galaxy’s Edge even extended to the branding of familiar drinks. | Allen J. Schaben/Los Angeles Times/Getty ImagesDisney Parks plans to broaden the timeline of Galaxy’s Edge, which means it will no longer be centered on a specific moment in Star Wars history. Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa will now be available for character interactions, along with the already - established Rey, Chewbacca, R2 - D2, Din Djarin, and Ahsoka Tano. The rides will remain unchanged, but some shops will be rebranded to an earlier part of the Star Wars story. Moreover, one of the most immersive elements of Galaxy’s Edge will be removed. Unlike many other Disney Parks, Galaxy’s Edge doesn't use music played through speakers. Instead, there is an in - universe soundscape filled with voices, droid noises, and other things you'd expect to hear on Batuu. Protesters burn US flags, confront riot police before Trump’s Davos visit
Violent demonstrations broke out in multiple Swiss cities, where American flags were set ablaze and riot police confronted protesters before President Trump's arrival in Davos for the World Economic Forum.Trump is set to arrive on Wednesday and is anticipated to give an address at the yearly assembly of international political figures and business leaders. His visit follows Trump's reinforced effort to obtain Greenland for U.S. national security purposes and his refusal to dismiss potential military action. The Davos forum, located in eastern Switzerland, ranks among the globe's most prominent economic conferences, convening state leaders, CEOs, financiers, and policymakers to deliberate on worldwide trade, security, and geopolitical issues.Approximately 300 protesters walked through Davos on January 19 to voice opposition to both the forum and Trump's scheduled participation.Chanting and carrying signs that said "Trump not welcome," the demonstrators charged Swiss authorities with normalizing what they called a controversial figure by welcoming the U.S. president.Pictures from the events depicted masked protesters burning American flags, and local news accounts noted broken windows and additional damage to property.A Swiss outlet reported that clashes began after protesters confronted police lines.Police in full riot equipment used water cannons, chemical agents, and rubber bullets, stating they had fireworks launched at them. The outlet further cited a police report stating "paint bags were thrown at building fronts and shop windows were shattered at the intersection of Bahnhofstrasse and Uraniastrasse," with the total extent of the damage not yet determined. Two officers were also said to have been struck by stones but were not injured.Comparable protests occurred in other locations, such as Bern, where police dispersed a demonstration after cordoning off the downtown area.In Zurich, thousands participated in a march on Sunday evening, with one sign stating, "Put the Trumpster in the dumpster."Members of the Swiss NGO Campax also beamed a large image of Trump onto a ski slope near Davos, labeling him the "Spirit of plutocracy."Economic policies are predicted to be a central topic of conversation at the summit, along with discussions on the Ukraine war and wider international security issues.Trump reiterated his stance in a social media post early Tuesday."As I expressed to everyone, very plainly, Greenland is imperative for our strategic future," Trump wrote. "There can be no going back — on that, everyone agrees. The United States of America is the most powerful country anywhere on the globe, by far."

Dr. Serkan Aygın Clinic Launches All-Inclusive Hair Transplant Packages Amid Rising Medical Tourism in Turkey
EQS via SeaPRwire.com / 21/01/2026 / 09:44 UTC+8 İstanbul, Turkey - January 21, 2026 - (SeaPRwire) - As Turkey continues to attract international patients seeking hair restoration, Dr. Serkan Aygın Clinic has highlighted its all-inclusive hair transplant programs as a key offering for medical travelers. Industry analysts note that Turkey’s reputation for combining experienced surgeons, advanced transplantation techniques, and comprehensive patient care has made it a top destination. By packaging surgery, consultations, accommodation, and post-operative care under a single program, Dr. Serkan Aygın Clinic aims to provide a seamless experience for patients visiting from abroad. The All-Inclusive Package Model in Hair Transplantation The all-inclusive model has become a standard practice among many Turkish hair transplant clinics serving overseas patients. Instead of managing multiple payments and providers, patients receive a clearly defined treatment plan covering medical procedures and essential logistics. Typically, these packages include pre-operative consultations, the hair transplant procedure, medications, accommodation, airport transfers, and post-operative follow-up services. Clinics state that this structure is designed to reduce uncertainty and improve the overall patient experience. Pre-Operative Consultation and Hair Analysis All-inclusive treatment programs generally begin with a detailed medical consultation and hair analysis. During this stage, specialists assess hair density, scalp condition, and the pattern of hair loss using clinical evaluation methods. Based on the findings, surgeons determine the most suitable technique, such as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), Direct Hair Implantation (DHI), or Sapphire FUE. Hairline planning is also conducted at this stage, with clinics emphasizing the importance of designs that align with facial proportions and long-term results. Accommodation and Patient Services Hotel accommodation is a standard component of most all-inclusive hair transplant packages. Clinics typically collaborate with nearby hotels to ensure proximity to medical facilities and ease of access for follow-up visits. Patients usually remain in Turkey for several days, depending on the scope of the procedure and recovery requirements. Clinics note that this arrangement allows patients to rest comfortably before and after surgery while remaining under medical supervision. Transfers and On-Site Assistance International patients arriving in Turkey are commonly provided with airport pickup and scheduled transfers between the hotel and clinic. Clinics describe these services as part of their coordinated care approach. In addition, many providers assign patient coordinators or translators to assist throughout consultations and treatment stages, facilitating communication between medical staff and non-Turkish-speaking patients. Hair Transplant Procedure Hair transplant procedures included in these packages are typically performed under local anesthesia and may last several hours, depending on the number of grafts and the chosen technique. Follicles are harvested from donor areas, most often the back of the scalp, and transplanted into areas affected by hair loss. Turkish clinics are known for offering procedures based on maximum safe graft extraction rather than fixed graft limits, a practice aimed at achieving balanced density and natural coverage. Post-Operative Care and Follow-Up Post-operative care is an integral part of all-inclusive packages. Patients receive medications, aftercare instructions, and medical products such as specialized shampoos to support healing. Clinics generally schedule follow-up evaluations during the patient’s stay and continue monitoring progress remotely after patients return home. This extended follow-up model has become a common practice among clinics treating international patients. Additional Medical Treatments Some clinics offer supplementary treatments as part of their programs or as optional additions. These may include Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy or other scalp-focused treatments intended to support hair growth and recovery. Such services are typically determined based on individual medical assessments rather than standardized inclusion. Cost Structure and International Demand Industry analysts note that one of the primary reasons for Turkey’s prominence in hair transplantation is cost efficiency. Even when accommodation and transfers are included, treatment costs remain significantly lower than in many European countries and North America. Clinics attribute this advantage to operational scale, specialized medical teams, and long-standing experience with international patients, rather than reduced medical standards. Company Perspective: Dr. Serkan Aygın Clinic Among the clinics operating in this sector, Dr. Serkan Aygın Clinic is recognized as one of the established institutions in Turkey’s hair transplantation field. Founded by Dr. Serkan Aygın, the clinic has been providing hair restoration services since 1996. Dr. Aygın received his medical education at Istanbul University Çapa Faculty of Medicine and completed specializations in Clinical Pharmacology and Dermatology. After serving as a dermatology specialist at Vakıf Gureba Hospital, he focused his clinical work exclusively on hair transplantation. With more than 25 years of experience, particularly in FUE and DHI techniques, Dr. Aygın and his medical team continue to treat patients from multiple regions as part of Turkey’s growing medical tourism sector. About Dr. Serkan Aygın Clinic Dr. Serkan Aygın Clinic is a Turkey-based medical center specializing in hair transplantation and hair treatments. The clinic operates under international medical standards and serves patients from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America. Israel’s UN envoy issues blunt caution to Iran during widespread protests
Israel is closely observing Iran and issuing a direct warning to its leadership, which is under international scrutiny due to escalating protests."We are in a state of high alert," the ambassador informed reporters. "Our defensive and offensive capabilities are prepared... Our advice to Iran is not to challenge our abilities."Danon added that Israel knows the locations of Iran's ballistic missile stockpiles, weapons Tehran deployed against Jerusalem in a 12-day conflict in June 2025.That month, Israel initiated "Operation Rising Lion," intended to destroy key targets. The United States subsequently intervened with "Operation Midnight Hammer," which resulted in the destruction of Iran's nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The diplomat described the summer's events as a "partial" demonstration of Israel's military power, without providing further details.Danon stated that the final decision on any future action would rest with the U.S., and Israel would "respect that decision.""Our stance is unambiguous; it is a decision for the United States. We are prepared," Danon said. "We will not dictate to the U.S. whether, what, or when they should act."He also suggested that the U.S. is prepared to support Israel, indicating that an Iranian attack would likely provoke a retaliatory strike from "the U.S. or somebody else."On Tuesday, Iran issued a warning to President Trump against targeting its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei."Trump is aware that any aggressive move against our leader will result in us not only severing that hand but also setting their world ablaze," stated Gen. Abolfazl Shekarchi, a spokesman for Iran’s armed forces, as reported. This statement was a reaction to Trump's demand for "new leadership in Iran." In an interview, he described Khamenei as "a sick man who should run his country properly and stop killing people."Since the protests erupted in late December, both the U.S. and Israel have voiced support for the demonstrators. President Donald Trump warned that U.S. action would follow if the Iranian regime responded with violence. To date, the U.S. has not intervened, and the president indicated he was encouraged by the cancellation of executions."I greatly respect the fact that all scheduled hangings, which were to take place yesterday (over 800 of them), have been cancelled by the leadership of Iran. Thank you!" Trump posted on social media.White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt reinforced this message, stating that all options remain available. She confirmed at a briefing that Trump warned Iran that continued killings would lead to "grave consequences."Israel has publicly endorsed the Iranian people, with Prime Minister Netanyahu stating on Jan. 11 that the nation was "closely monitoring" the situation. He pledged that once Iran is "liberated from the yoke of tyranny," Israel would be ready to engage as a peace partner."Israel is closely monitoring the events unfolding in Iran. The protests for freedom have spread throughout the country. The people of Israel, and the entire world, stand in awe of the immense bravery of Iran's citizens. Israel supports their struggle for freedom and firmly condemns the mass killings of innocent civilians," Netanyahu said at his weekly cabinet meeting."We all hope that the Persian nation will soon be liberated from the yoke of tyranny, and when that day comes, Israel and Iran will once again be faithful partners in building a future of prosperity and peace for both nations," he added.Iran, in turn, has accused the U.S. and Israel of fomenting the protests. On Jan. 16, a representative claimed both nations were responsible for creating "political destabilization, internal unrest and chaos," and blamed them for "the innocent blood that has been shed in my country."Shortly before these remarks, the Iranian mission to the U.N. posted on X that "the satanic plot hatched by the United States and the Zionist regime to fragment Iran and to engineer an internal civil war will be neutralized through the national solidarity of the Government and the people of Iran, the ignominy of which will remain upon them."Iranian officials often use the term "Zionist regime" to refer to Israel.A U.S.-based organization that monitors unrest in Iran reported on Monday that the confirmed death toll had reached 4,029 since the protests started. The agency also reported at least 5,811 severe injuries and 26,015 arrests.Digital contacted the White House, the State Department, and the Iranian Mission to the U.N. for comment.
From Computing Chips to Physical AI: Nobel Laureate Hassabis’ Trillion-Dollar Paradigm Forecast and 51WORLD’s (6651.HK) Industry Breakthrough
HONG KONG, January 21, 2026 - (ACN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) – In 2026, the artificial intelligence (AI) industry reached another critical turning point. Demis Hassabis, Nobel Prize winner and CEO of Google DeepMind, made a pivotal assertion: the true trillion-dollar opportunity in AI lies not in computing chips, but in “Physical AI” - systems capable of perceiving, understanding, and transforming the real world. Having earned a Nobel Prize for his breakthrough work on AlphaFold, which validated AI’s scientific value, Hassabis’ latest outlook has attracted widespread attention in capital markets. It has also brought 51WORLD (6651.HK), a Hong Kong-listed company focused on Physical AI, into the spotlight.Hassabis pointed out that current AI faces a bottleneck of "intelligence fragmentation": while excelling at digital tasks such as text generation, it struggles to grasp basic physical laws like gravity and spatial continuity. The missing "world model" stands as the final barrier to achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). More critically, the poor adaptability of existing data formats leads to computing power waste and low energy efficiency, making energy supply a potential core variable in future AI competition. Physical AI, by constructing a digital environment that closely mirrors reality, holds the key to resolving this series of challenges. As China's first listed company specializing in Physical AI, 51WORLD's strategic layout aligns perfectly with this trend. Deeply rooted in the fields of digital twin and simulation, the company has independently developed the AES Digital Twin Base and 51Sim Simulation Platform, establishing the core infrastructure for Physical AI. The implementation of Physical AI requires breaking through three key elements: synthetic data, spatial intelligence models, and simulation training platforms. Leveraging its massive 3D asset library and 3DGS/4DGS reconstruction technology, 51WORLD has achieved 90% authenticity and 100% scene controllability for synthetic data, providing AI with data support that adheres to physical laws. Its AES Base enables full-scale replication—from micro-components to macro-cities—endowing AI with "physical intuition." Combined with the Clonova Interaction Platform and Aperdata Implementation Platform, it has created a closed loop from digital cognition to physical execution. In embodied intelligence, the ultimate application of Physical AI, 51WORLD has delivered tangible results: it empowers over 100 global intelligent driving original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Tier 1 suppliers, testing institutions, universities, and research institutes with closed-loop simulation training solutions, helping clients build safe, efficient, and mass-producible verification systems for intelligent driving systems.51WORLD's resilience stems from its commitment to underlying technologies. During the previous R&D cycle, the company established a leading position in China's Physical AI market. With a new round of large-scale R&D investment in synthetic data, spatial intelligence models, and simulation training platforms, it has solved the cross-scenario generalization challenge of Physical AI—aligning seamlessly with Hassabis' vision of a universal world model. Financial data shows sustained strong revenue growth for the company, and the explosive demand for the 51Sim Platform underscores the industry's urgent need for high-reliability Physical AI simulation technology.Hassabis predicts that over the next five years, AI will enter the era of automated experimentation, requiring digital environments that accurately simulate physical parameters. This aligns closely with 51WORLD's direction of evolving toward a "universal world model" and integrating generative AI. Amid the wave of AI transitioning from the digital world to the physical world, 51WORLD—equipped with technical accumulation and scenario implementation capabilities—is emerging as a core participant and leader in this trillion-dollar track.Beijing 51WORLD Digital Twin Technology Co., Ltd., [HKSE:6651], https://www.51world.com.cn Copyright 2026 JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com. Trump proposes ‘Board of Peace’ to replace UN, indicates major global power shift
The President has suggested his proposed "Board of Peace" in Gaza could serve as a replacement for the U.N., highlighting what one national security analyst has characterized as a revision of the "existing international order."When asked on Tuesday if he saw the new body taking the place of the U.N., Trump responded, "It might."During a White House press conference, the president also told reporters the U.N. has repeatedly failed to carry out its mission."The UN just hasn’t been very effective. I’m a big fan, but it has never reached its potential," Trump said. While arguing the U.N. should continue to exist, he added, "The UN should have settled every single one of the wars that I settled."National security analyst Kobi Michael stated the proposal already marked a break from the international order that has governed global politics for decades."The norms, international institutions, organizations, and liberalism are out, and are in," said , a senior researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies and the Misgav Institute, in comments to Digital, before adding that "the EU is far less important."Michael's remarks come as the Trump administration moved ahead with plans for the board, an initiative officials say extends well beyond the immediate conflict in the Gaza Strip. In a statement on Jan. 16, the White House said that, in line with the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, the "Board of Peace will play a crucial role in achieving all 20 points of the President’s plan, offering strategic oversight, rallying international resources, and ensuring accountability as Gaza transitions from conflict to peace and development."As previously reported by Digital, preparations are said to be in progress for a , Switzerland, with Bloomberg initially reporting the plans.Officials confirmed "dozens" of countries were invited, with formal invitations sent Friday. Trump , Belarus, China, Ukraine, India, Canada, Argentina, Jordan, Egypt, Hungary, and Vietnam, among others. The White House stated Trump will chair the Board of Peace and be accompanied by senior political, diplomatic, and business figures, including Jared Kushner, Secretary of State , U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff, and billionaire Marc Rowan.According to Michael, the initiative reflects a fresh approach to the international system."We are discussing something that is much larger than the Gaza Strip," he said, before describing "a revisionist approach by President Trump toward the existing international order, where the board is a tool in his vision to alter the current international order."Michael said of that calculation, as protests swept the country amid economic and political strain."Iran is the real game changer, and we are witnessing a very significant and dramatic shift, closely coordinated with Prime Minister Netanyahu," he said.Russia’s role on the board remains unclear, with the Trump administration extending invitations to Russia and Belarus, and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirming President Vladimir .Michael suggested Moscow’s participation would come with conditions. "If Putin is involved, it will be to bring an end to the Ukrainian war and force him to abandon some major demands," he said. "The to join the board based on an understanding with him regarding the division of power and influence, promising to ease sanctions and strike a deal.""Still, alliances are out, while allies and regional structures are in," Michael added. Digital has contacted the White House for comment.

90 Years Later, a Horror Legend’s Most Overlooked Sci-Fi Thriller Warrants Remembrance
Snap/ShutterstockBoris Karloff ranks among cinema history’s most iconic and revered horror stars and creature performers, responsible for some of the most unforgettable monsters ever brought to the screen. Frankenstein’s Monster and The Mummy are, of course, key examples, yet Karloff appeared in a staggering 1,974 films over his nearly five-decade-long career. His roles spanned from a bit part in the 1919 serial Lightning Rider to his final American film, Peter Bogdanovich’s 1968 thriller Targets, a standout work. Though Karloff is widely celebrated for his impressive emotional range and striking intensity, one of his finest films remains regrettably overshadowed by his more high-profile projects. It’s time to revisit the legacy of 1936’s notably underappreciated Universal picture, The Invisible Ray.The film follows astronomer Dr. Janos Rukh (Karloff), who has created a telescope said to peer so far into deep space’s light rays that it can offer a view into Earth’s past. He invites skeptical colleagues—Dr. Benet (Bela Lugosi), Sir Francis Stevens (Walter Kingsford) and his wife Lady Arabella (Beulah Bondi)—along with her nephew Ronald Drake (Frank Lawton) to observe his test of the telescope and the device capable of “reading” the data encoded in those light rays. The test succeeds, prompting Dr. Benet and Sir Francis Stevens to invite Dr. Rukh on an expedition where they uncover an ancient meteorite. Rukh is exposed to its unknown radiation, dubbed “Radium X,” which makes him glow and grants him a lethal, destructive touch.Dr. Benet creates a serum that slows the radiation’s toxic impact, yet the exposure still warps Rukh’s psyche. He learns that Dr. Benet and Sir Stevens have taken a meteorite sample to an international conference to prevent its monopolization, and that his wife Diana (Frances Drake) has left with Ronald. Driven insane by the radiation, he embarks on a revenge mission to kill the expedition members, with a suspicious Dr. Benet close on his trail.Though Karloff remains best known for his masterful depictions of some of cinema’s most enduring monsters, his turn as Dr. Rukh deserves a place in that discussion. In the film, he transitions from a bitter scientist to a heartbroken husband, then to a fixated killer, anchoring the role with unexpected depth despite the requirement to glow in the dark. Karloff’s dialogue delivery is exceptional here (“I could kill a nation, all nations,” he remarks, reflecting on his new powers), and the film stands out for its genuinely tragic ending, where the person Rukh loved most is the one who brings about his downfall. Lugosi and Karloff face off for the third and final time. | Universal/Kobal/ShutterstockThe Invisible Ray holds a distinct spot in film history for several reasons. Following Karloff and Lugosi’s rise to national stardom via Frankenstein, Dracula, and other monster classics, Universal paired the two in three additional films: the horror-comedy The Black Cat (1934), the Poe-inspired The Raven, and The Invisible Ray. As their final collaboration among the three, Ray marks a milestone in their storied careers, and their on-screen chemistry is exceptional. As Rukh grows more menacing in his killing spree, Bela Lugosi’s Dr. Benet infuses the role with intelligence and understated empathy, creating strong interplay between the two.The 1936 film also stands as a pioneering sci-fi spectacle within a notable and influential lineage. Anxiety about radiation’s destructive potential inspired numerous 1950s films, including American titles like Them! (1954), Creature with the Atom Brain (1955), and The Amazing Colossal Man (1957), as well as Hammer Horror’s X the Unknown (1956), or (1954). The Invisible Ray, however, can credibly claim to be the first sci-fi horror film to use lethal radioactive mutations as a plot device (even if the science is notably shaky and the radiation itself is fictional). It’s a true landmark in what would evolve into a hugely influential subgenre, arriving nearly two decades before its time. For all these reasons, The Invisible Ray deserves to be revisited and remembered as the classic it is. While the African expedition includes problematic colonialist undertones, a clear product of its time, the film remains a significant part of cinematic history. Karloff delivers another stellar creature performance, with more room to emote thanks to an effects-driven, makeup-free role. It’s a terrific collaboration with Lugosi, a monumental entry in the radioactive horror subgenre, and an engaging revenge tale to boot. Ninety years later, it’s long overdue to recognize just how excellent it truly is.The Invisible Ray is available to purchase or rent on Prime Video and other digital platforms.
