The uncertainty surrounding whether Netflix’s Marvel series are part of the official Marvel Cinematic Universe canon persists, but Daredevil: Born Again demonstrated that fans are largely unconcerned about this distinction. Charlie Cox’s return alone was considered an achievement many thought impossible, and the series has expanded the potential for Daredevil and his supporting characters. Krysten Ritter will return as Jessica Jones in Born Again Season 2, and Marvel Television is rumored to be working toward a genuine Defenders reunion.
Since Born Again has already brought together half of the street-level superhero team, could Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist be next in line? While Jones has shown considerable enthusiasm about reprising his role, Colter has remained more reserved. During a recent interview, he stated, “I was giving no one hope before.” However, following a positive development, his return to the MCU appears increasingly likely.
“I’ve had conversations, and I’ll leave it at that,” Colter commented. While he didn’t disclose details about these discussions, the actor appears enthusiastic about the possibility of returning to the character after almost a decade.
Colter explained to Stockman that when Luke Cage was canceled eight years ago, he was satisfied moving on from the series. “When it wrapped… I love playing Luke Cage, [but] I love doing other things,” he admitted. He has indeed kept busy, leading various projects and appearing in films such as Plane. Following this period away, however, Colter now appears prepared to return to the role.
“Now I think I’ve reached the point where I’m like, ‘There’s some unfinished business,'” Colter remarked. “And, y’know, Daredevil’s back. Jessica’s back. So I would say we’re in a better position to see this coming to fruition faster than we think. We’ll see.”
Might Luke Cage appear in Born Again Season 2? Possibly not. However, with speculation circulating, we may soon receive similar news regarding Colter’s bulletproof hero.
