HONG KONG, January 14, 2026 - (ACN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) – Enterprises across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) are accelerating their expansion into ASEAN amid escalating global uncertainties and intensifying tariff pressures. A new joint study, “Hong Kong Empowers GBA Enterprises for ASEAN Growth Amid Global Trade Challenges”, released today by UOB Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), reveals GBA companies are now scaling their ASEAN strategies with greater urgency to boost growth and strengthen supply chain resilience.ASEAN growth set to accelerate furtherReflecting this renewed urgency, the study finds that 73 percent of GBA respondents intend to accelerate their business development in ASEAN, reinforcing the region’s importance as a long-standing and increasingly urgent growth engine amid global trade frictions.ASEAN economies continue to gain prominence, with Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia emerging as the top destinations for GBA enterprises over the next three years. To support expansion plans, companies expect to allocate an average of 30 percent additional resources to their ASEAN expansion plans. Vietnam is the top priority (47 percent increase in resources), followed by Indonesia (37 percent) and Thailand/Malaysia (32 percent each). From a strategic perspective, the primary focus is on driving sales growth – especially in Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia – while expanding production and sourcing bases, with Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia the top choices.Even in Singapore, where GBA enterprises already have the largest footprint, respondents intend to commit an average of 23 percent in extra resources to accelerate their business development in the country, especially in areas, such as financing and establishing regional offices. The study also reports a 25 percentage point year-on-year increase in the number of GBA businesses seeking to expand or maintain sales operations within the ASEAN bloc, with 98 percent of surveyed enterprises continuing to target these dynamic sales markets. This acceleration underscores the region’s heightened urgency to navigate intensifying geopolitical and tariff pressures.Notably, 91 percent of respondents intend to expand or maintain their ASEAN-based production and sourcing hubs — a seven percentage point increase compared to 2024, highlighting stronger intent to diversify supply chains and mitigate external risks.Heightened challenges in ASEAN expansionWhile the momentum is clear, the study also highlights significant hurdles GBA enterprises face, as they expand into ASEAN. The most cited challenge is finding suitable local partners (47 percent), a figure that has risen by 24 percentage points since 2024 and has climbed steadily over the past three years. Cultural and language barriers (46 percent) and difficulties in sourcing specialist talent (40 percent) are also on the rise, up 23 and 15 percentage points, respectively. These challenges underscore the need for trusted advisors and deeper cross-border support.Growing commitment to ESGThe study reveals continued progress among GBA companies in pursuing sustainability goals. Of the participating enterprises, 83 percent currently have green initiatives underway, slightly up from 81 percent in 2024 and marking a three-year high.Furthermore, 96 percent of respondents plan to increase or maintain their ESG funding over the next two years, with 66 percent intending to boost their ESG investment – a 26 percentage point jump from 40 percent in 2024, recording a three-year high. For the next two years, the average intended level of ESG funding on the part of GBA enterprises is now HK$874,771, nearly double the HK$462,535 recorded in 2024.Adaline Zheng, CEO of UOB Hong Kong, said, “For GBA enterprises, ASEAN is not just the next stop – it is the growth frontier. Hong Kong amplifies that momentum, and UOB has the expertise to connect it. With our extensive ASEAN network, deep local insights and sustainability leadership, we help businesses in Hong Kong scale faster, strengthen their resilience and capture opportunities with commitment. We help businesses win the next chapter of regional growth.”Hong Kong as the gateway for ASEAN expansion and ESG leadershipThe survey reaffirms Hong Kong’s role as a critical platform for GBA enterprises seeking to accelerate ASEAN expansion and strengthen ESG programmes. Hong Kong’s role as a superconnector is widely recognised and highly appreciated, earning a score of 7.9 out of 10 for connectivity with both GBA cities and the ASEAN bloc.Wing Chu, Deputy Director of HKTDC Research, said, “With the shifting global supply chain landscape and tariff uncertainties, many GBA enterprises are accelerating their ASEAN engagement not merely as a means of risk diversification, but to capture new growth opportunities in fast-evolving markets. Hong Kong’s unique positioning as a superconnector allows businesses to leverage the city’s comprehensive trade, financial and professional services platform to navigate this transformation efficiently, while strengthening their ESG commitments. The HKTDC will continue to proactively support GBA enterprises in leveraging Hong Kong's professional services to capitalise on opportunities in the ASEAN markets.”Among the 73 percent of GBA enterprises intending to accelerate their ASEAN development, two-thirds have leveraged Hong Kong’s platform to advance their expansion. On the ESG front, Hong Kong offers diversified, forward-looking, sustainable development solutions necessary for green and sustainable business development, with its green services rated at 8.8 out of 10 by surveyed enterprises. In addition, more than 90 percent respondents are considering or already increasing their uptake of Hong Kong’s sustainable development services over the next two years. The most in-demand services include: (1) green financial products and services; (2) green financing services; (3) ESG reporting, due diligence, ESG rating; and (4) green asset valuation. The report, based on insights from more than 600 businesses across Hong Kong and five key mainland GBA cities (Dongguan, Foshan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhongshan), examines how businesses are adjusting strategies amid global challenges, and how Hong Kong continues to play a pivotal role as a superconnector, empowering GBA enterprises to diversify supply chains within ASEAN and advance their ESG commitments. GA-ASI and USN Test Expanded Sonobuoy Dispensing System For MQ-9B SeaGuardian(R)
SAN DIEGO, Jan 14, 2026 - (ACN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and the U.S. Navy continue to expand the Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) capability of the MQ-9B SeaGuardian® Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). Flight test was performed on December 17 and featured Sonobuoy Dispensing System (SDS) pods, more than previously tested, doubling the number of sonobuoys available."Expanding sonobuoy capacity, including Multi-static Active Coherent (MAC) technology for SeaGuardian, has been an integral part of our advanced ASW strategy to broaden and enhance search areas," said GA-ASI President David R. Alexander. "The wider maritime coverage our MQ-9B's ASW capability provides is extremely valuable to our customers."Sonobuoys are naval sensors that drop from an aircraft into the ocean and help detect submarines. The SeaGuardian deployed AN/SSQ-36 Bathythermal, AN/SSQ-53G Directional Frequency Analysis and Recording (DIFAR) (passive), and AN/SSQ-62F Directional Command Activated Sonobuoy System (DICASS) (active) buoys. This was the first time Multi-static Active Coherent (MAC) buoys have been dispensed from an uncrewed aircraft. The MAC buoys are better at detecting submarines over large areas and require fewer buoys compared to using DIFAR and DICASS.Sponsored by the U.S. Navy, the flight tests were specifically aimed at certifying the SDS. This flight testing supports the Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet's Operational Evaluation deployment to SEVENTH Fleet and enjoyed additional support and governmental supervision from the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) AIRWorks.Upon completion of the testing and data review, the U.S. Navy is expected to give GA-ASI deployment flight clearance for ASW operations using MQ-9B SeaGuardian in January 2026.SeaGuardian has also been used by the U.S. Navy in various recent exercises, including Northern Edge, Integrated Battle Problem, RIMPAC, and Group Sail.About GA-ASIGeneral Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc., is the world's foremost builder of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). ’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’ Review: 2026’s First Feel-Bad Movie
For many viewers hoping for a non-stop thrill ride with , Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s long-awaited return to the zombie franchise that began with the wildly influential , its somber third-act shift might have been a bit confusing. The muscular human vs. Infected battles gave way to a reflective tribute to life, memory, and the remnants of our fading humanity. But even though this pivot seemed puzzling, 28 Years Later—for all its bombastic action sequences and gory thrills—was a far more thoughtful horror movie than many recognized. It laid the groundwork for deeper themes about humanity’s decay in the wake of the apocalypse—seeds that burst into brutal, bloody fruition in Nia DaCosta’s sequel, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. The Bone Temple continues the more contemplative plot threads of 28 Years Later, anchored by Ralph Fiennes’ wise Dr. Kelson. | Sony PicturesA direct follow-up to 28 Years Later, The Bone Temple centers on Spike (Alfie Williams) as he’s inducted into the cult of Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell), whose gang of psychopathic children gleefully hunt Infected for sport while terrorizing any human survivors they cross. Sir Lord Jimmy was the child from the terrifying prologue of 28 Years Later, who witnessed the Rage Virus outbreak—his mother was slaughtered, and his priest father embraced the hordes of Infected. As a result, he’s developed a warped view of the apocalypse: they’re in hell, and he’s been handpicked by the Devil to do his bidding. This mission sets the Jimmy cult on an unexpected collision course with the gentle Dr. Ian Kelson (Ralph Fiennes), whose titular Bone Temple will inevitably draw any Satan worshippers. The Bone Temple, as suggested by its title and the marketing’s singular focus on Fiennes, picks up both the narrative and thematic threads of Dr. Kelson’s storyline: his dedication to the concepts of memento mori (“remember you must die”) and memento amoris (“remember you must love”), and his unusual coexistence with the Alpha Infected he’s named “Samson” (Chi Lewis-Parry). As Spike’s story plunges into even darker, bleaker territory than the last film, Kelson’s arc takes on a light, reflective tone that sometimes verges on comedic. In fact, Kelson’s storyline could even be called a buddy comedy of sorts—he begins experimenting on Samson with psychedelic substances, uncovering new insights about the Rage Virus (while finding this Infected makes a surprisingly great trip companion).Unexpectedly, The Bone Temple delivers an odd buddy-comedy element. | Sony PicturesThe two storylines feel a bit disconnected until they finally collide in an explosive third-act climax that shifts between bizarre, funny, and distressing. But DaCosta expertly balances these wildly differing tones throughout the film, letting Kelson and Samson’s quirky dynamic breathe (including a trippy jam session where they sit stoned under the stars) while ramping up the brutal horrors of Spike’s time with the Jimmys. While DaCosta’s direction isn’t as mind-blowingly innovative as Boyle’s (there’s no absurd ), her more straightforward approach doesn’t make The Bone Temple any less visceral. One sequence featuring Jimmy and his cult—whom he calls his “Fingers”—is not only the most brutal scene in the franchise’s history but also the most harrowingly violent moment in a mainstream horror movie this decade. DaCosta’s steady camera and unflinching gaze make the scene—which reveals the truly diabolical depths humans can reach—even more disturbing. It’s the kind of gut-churning, depraved bloodshed that feels like it was ripped from a B-movie gutter, yet here it is, in a wide release starring Ralph Fiennes. While Boyle’s stylish direction tapped into the madness inherent in Garland’s script, DaCosta’s grounded, clear-eyed approach uncovers the script’s unnerving nihilism. 28 Years Later certainly touched on human cruelty toward one another, but The Bone Temple shows in all its bloody glory the cruelty that was always waiting to be unleashed—whether by a preternatural virus or an apocalyptic event that tosses society’s rules out the window.Jack O’Connell delivers an all-time great villain performance. | Sony PicturesO’Connell’s Sir Lord Jimmy embodies this cruelty in every way: a smiling sadist who dons a raggedy wig and tiara (ironically evoking the image of an abusive child entertainer ) while ordering his child soldiers to dish out unspeakable cruelties. The fact that his Fingers are just as zealous as he is (apart from Erin Kellyman’s sympathetic deputy) makes it even harder to watch—especially as Spike finds himself dragged further into their influence.Alfie Williams remains an inspired casting choice, giving a powerful performance as a terrified child stuck between a rock and a hard place. It makes for the first truly feel-bad event of 2026, one that makes it hard to see any light at the end of the tunnel. Thank goodness, then, for Fiennes’ tender, lovely performance as Dr. Kelson, whose sage, meditative presence serves as a much-needed anchor for both the viewer and Spike. The biggest issue is that, in many ways, The Bone Temple feels like a bridge between two movies. At its worst, it’s a plot-driven film meant to move characters around like chess pieces until they’re in place for the third installment—also directed by Boyle. But that’s more likely a flaw in Garland’s script than anything else, and it’s negligible next to all the awesome horrors and touching moments of catharsis The Bone Temple contains.28 Years Later: The Bone Temple opens in theaters January 16.

An Experimental Director Is Transporting ‘The Simpsons’ Into the Post-Apocalyptic World
FoxStage-to-screen adaptations have given us beloved films like His Girl Friday, , and West Side Story. The subgenre has also produced Dear Evan Hansen, so it’s a mixed bag. Either way, casual fans might assume the genre’s output is mostly musicals and Shakespearean works, but there’s a surprising amount of experimental content out there too. Now, one of today’s most creative directors is adapting a theatrical piece that takes an iconic pop culture work — — and turns it into a post-apocalyptic story of hope and survival.Playwright Anne Washburn recently announced a film adaptation of her most notable work, Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play, directed by Sorry to Bother You filmmaker Boots Riley, a project Riley has confirmed . The three-act play depicts the world after an unspecified apocalyptic event. In Act One, set shortly after the catastrophe, a group of survivors gather around a campfire and distract themselves by trying to recall the plot of The Simpsons’ “Cape Feare” episode; this scene was crafted by actually assembling actors and asking them to remember the show. Then, in Act Two, we jump seven years ahead and follow a troupe of actors as they tour with a production of this and other Simpsons stories, in a Station-Eleven-style format.Boots Riley is developing a feature film adaptation of Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play. | Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic, Inc/Getty ImagesFinally, Act Three shows what happens after the story has circulated through post-apocalyptic culture for 75 years. The lighthearted theater piece has transformed into an epic tragedy; Simpsons characters are represented via masks, and the original “Cape Feare” villain, , is replaced by Mr. Burns — now an all-encompassing symbol of evil, much like how early theater relied on stock characters. The play poses an intriguing question about modern pop culture: Centuries from now, what will be remembered about our time? And how will it be remembered? Just as we recall Greek myths, our era could be remembered through its enduring stories of heroes and villains — whether via old The Simpsons episodes or the sprawling Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the shorter term, Mr. Burns is a play about theater, so it will be interesting to see how it translates to the screen. But if anyone can take an abstract concept like this and turn it into an enjoyable movie experience, it’s Boots Riley.

DPC Dash – Domino’s Pizza China Defies Headwinds in 2025 as Strong Q4 Performance Cements Market Leadership
HONG KONG, Jan 14, 2026 - (ACN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - China's restaurant industry grew 3.3% to RMB 5.22 trillion in revenue through November 2025, government data showed, even as competition intensified beyond product and service into battles over supply chains, digitalization and capital strength.Chain expansion has emerged as the key differentiator, with China's restaurant chain penetration rate rising steadily in recent years and expected to reach 25% in 2025, according to Meituan platform data. Industry reports show that the pizza category stands out, as China’s pizza market reached RMB 48 billion in 2024 and surpassed RMB 50 billion in 2025. Against this backdrop, DPC Dash-Domino's Pizza China (1405.HK) disclosed its Q4 2025 business results this month, reinforcing its position as the market leader.Store Expansion Achieves Quality and Scale GrowthDPC Dash is the exclusive master franchisee for Domino's Pizza in the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong SAR, and Macau SAR. The company's 2025 store deployment closely aligned with industry trends, achieving breakthroughs in scale and efficiency. As of December 31, 2025, total store count exceeded 1,315 locations, representing 307 net new stores year-over-year, with entry into 21 new cities and expanding coverage to 60 cities. On January 1, 2026, the company accelerated expansion further, with 62 new stores opening across 46 cities. This efficient expansion benefits from mature store expansion models and precise market judgment. In 2025, when overall industry store counts fluctuated due to competition, DPC Dash’s efficient, high-quality expansion results proved particularly impressive. New store performance further validates brand strength—the first store in Dalian generated sales close to RMB 700,000 on its grand opening day during the 2026 New Year holiday, setting a new record in Domino’s global system. As of Q3 2025, DPC Dash holds 49 of the top 50 spots in first-30-day sales rankings among Domino's global network. By store count, the Chinese Mainland market has become Domino's third-largest international market, with regional penetration capabilities continuing to lead.Operating Resilience Emerges, User Ecosystem Solidifies Growth FoundationDue to structural market factors, category shifts and changing consumer trends, the restaurant industry's average order size remained under pressure in 2025, with consumers increasingly favoring affordable, quality dining options. Amid these trend shifts, DPC Dash achieved steady growth against such headwinds, demonstrating strong operational resilience. In Q4 2025, the company's tier-one city same-store sales growth (SSSG) maintained positive momentum. Excluding impacts from new market stores opened after December 2022, group-level SSSG also remained positive for both H2 2025 and full-year 2025. Even despite high prior-period comparisons and competitive market pressures, core market risk resilience remained outstanding. Continued user community expansion supported performance growth. As of December 31, 2025, total membership reached 35.6 million, up 45.3% from 24.5 million at year-end 2024. New users completing first orders through proprietary and third-party channels in the past 12 months continued growing, exceeding 15.4 million.Strong operating metrics and user base earned DPC Dash the "Most Valuable Consumer Company Award" and "Best IR Team Award" from Zhitong Finance's listed company ranking, further solidifying capital market recognition of its operating quality and growth logic.Product & Marketing Dual-Engine Drive, Digitalization Enables Efficiency UpgradesAligning with the pizza category’s "localized flavor" trends, DPC Dash employs product innovation and scenario marketing as twin engines, continuously strengthening user stickiness. In 2025, pizza sector innovation focused on flavor fusion. Building on this foundation, DPC Dash further expanded global flavor combinations, launching Sicilian-Inspired Beef & Bamboo Shoot Pizza and Madrid-Inspired Beef and Shrimp Pizza in Q4, satisfying diverse consumer taste preferences. The 2025 hit product Volcano Crust pizza series won the "Phenomenal Product Impact Award” as part of the Seven-Star Convention Alliance’s inaugural food and beverage consumer influence rankings for its phenomenal product innovation. While innovating, the company continues leading the industry in food safety, health advocacy and sustainable development, earning the Seven-Star Awards for the fifth year.Simultaneously, the company upgraded two popular pizzas with additional toppings at the same price, highlighting value advantages amid declining industry order sizes. On the marketing front, the company launched Halloween-themed snacks tied to seasonal scenarios, brought back the classic "Mega Week" promotion to lower consumption barriers, and partnered with Sanrio's popular character Kuromi for limited-edition merchandise, precisely targeting diverse consumer groups.Behind these initiatives lies strong digital capability support. DPC Dash leveraged its mature online operating systems and data-driven strategies to win the "Top 20 Digitalized Enterprise" from the China Digital Innovation Expo. Its digital practices highly align with industry trends of online channels becoming important growth drivers, providing broad space for business expansion.Comprehensive ESG Efforts Achieve Commercial and Social Value SynergyAs the industry accelerates "food industry + digital intelligence + dining + leisure" integration, DPC Dash continues deepening ESG initiatives, achieving synergistic growth of commercial and social value. In 2025, DPC Dash received multiple awards including the 2025 ESG Outstanding Listed Company Award at International Green Zero-Carbon Festival, and the 2025 Most Socially Responsible Listed Company Award from National Business Daily. These honors not only recognize sustainable operations but also align with consumer expectations for brand social responsibility, further strengthening brand reputation. In talent management, DPC Dash earned Mercer's "Best Employer" honor for the fourth time and first-time "Star Employer" recognition.Looking Forward: Deepening 4D Strategy, Leading High-Quality DevelopmentIn 2026, China's restaurant industry will transition comprehensively from scale expansion toward quality and efficiency improvement. After breaking through the RMB 50 billion market scale, pizza category competition will focus more intensely on product innovation, digital efficiency and refined operations. The Western fast-food segment will continue to see dual battles over localization and scale.DPC Dash plans to continue deepening its 4D Strategy of Development, Delicious Pizza at Value, Delivery, and Digital, continuously mining consumption potential across market tiers while optimizing store network layout. The company will also iterate on product portfolios, upgrade digitalization and strengthen supply chain resilience to further consolidate core competitiveness. With proven operating systems, strong brand momentum and multi-dimensional industry recognition, DPC Dash is positioned to continue leading China's pizza market in the new year, providing a replicable model for Western fast food and the broader restaurant industry's high-quality development. After 94 Years, A Classic Monster Reboot Could Fix An Original Flaw
New Line CinemaUniversal took a commendable risk for the modern era, but it’s not the only studio reviving classic horror properties. Netflix [blank] on a new Frankenstein film, while Warner Bros. holds the rights to *Bride of Frankenstein*—a Bonnie and Clyde-style retelling directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal called The Bride, due this year. Warner isn’t stopping there: it’s also partnering with Blumhouse (a frequent Universal collaborator) to reboot *The Mummy*.Not to be confused with whatever Universal has planned, Lee Cronin’s The Mummy will tell a far darker origin story, ditching the swashbuckling adventure of the Brendan Fraser-led films to lean heavily into spine-tingling horror. Cronin is the director behind Evil Dead Rise, so we can expect his take on the Mummy franchise to be [blank]. Despite its supernatural subject matter, this film already feels more grounded and authentic than previous Mummy installments. Cronin is drawing from a completely different source, but that might just fix one of the franchise’s biggest flaws.According to the official synopsis, Cronin’s Mummy centers on a journalist (Jack Reynor) whose young daughter (Natalie Grace) vanishes in the desert. When her mummified body is found eight years later and miraculously reanimates, “what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.”It’s a clever premise because it’s such a departure from [blank]. Unlike *Frankenstein* or *Dracula*, *The Mummy* wasn’t based on a novel—instead, it’s an amalgamation of Egypt-set legends. It took major liberties with the supposed Curse of King Tut (a story that fascinated the public in the 1930s) to tell the tale of an Egyptian high priest who comes to life in the modern day, only to abuse his power to revive his long-lost love. That story has shaped every Mummy film since, from the 1990s adventure films to [blank] (starring Tom Cruise). Naturally, it never truly did justice to Egyptian culture; it only gestured at their deities and practices to fake authenticity. While entertaining, there’s always been a sense of untapped potential—or, at worst, outright Orientalism—holding the franchise back.Lee Cronin is leaving the fantastical stories of older Mummy films behind. | UniversalCronin, however, seems genuinely interested in exploring lesser-known aspects of ancient Egyptian life, including the how and why of mummification. “Authenticity matters to me,” the director recently told . “One thing I’m really proud of with this movie (and the team involved) is that we have a truly authentic Egyptian cast and plenty of Arabic dialogue.”The Mummy will also blend that authenticity with a story true to Cronin’s style: he describes it as “one part Poltergeist and one part Seven, but filtered through my lens.” That’s a lot to balance, but if this near-century-old property wants to survive in the modern day, a fresh jolt of life might be its only chance.Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is set to premiere on April 17.
Star Trek Boss Outlines “Limitless” Future for ‘Starfleet Academy’ Series
The most immediate observation for veteran fans of the new series, Starfleet Academy, will be its large ensemble cast. This includes not only a core group of new cadets—featuring six main characters by the second episode—but also numerous supporting cadets, instructors, and Starfleet officers stationed on the USS Athena and on Earth. This count does not even factor in guest stars, most notably Paul Giamatti's new antagonist, Nus Braka. However, according to the franchise's television head, producer Alex Kurtzman, the show's format is built to allow for even greater expansion and evolution of its cast in subsequent seasons.“It strangely feels like a limitless engine capable of running for a very, very long time,” Kurtzman told Inverse prior to the premiere of Starfleet Academy. “It's not solely focused on the characters introduced in Season 1, who will spend four years at the academy. Every season welcomes a new class, raising the question of what occurs after they graduate?”To clarify, Kurtzman is not confirming a four-season run for Starfleet Academy. It is known that Season 2 entered pre-production in 2025, meaning there is at least one additional season following the 2026 debut. What Kurtzman and co-showrunner Noga Landau emphasize is that the series is inherently structured for transformation and potential long-term success. Unlike series such as The Next Generation or Voyager, which maintained a consistent core cast, the natural turnover of students at Starfleet Academy provides a framework for a broader array of characters and storylines. Furthermore, this expansive cast allows nearly all the cadets to serve as audience surrogates for viewers unfamiliar with Star Trek lore.“For new fans, our goal was to create a series that you can connect with immediately, without any prior Star Trek knowledge,” Landau explained. She added that the protagonist, Caleb Mir (Sandro Rosta), is intentionally unfamiliar with Earth and Starfleet. “He provides a fresh perspective on this world. He doesn't understand how things operate, so everything is a discovery for him and our viewers. Our new audience gets to experience that journey alongside him.”Caleb (Sandro Rosta) and his mentor, Nahla (Holly Hunter), in Starfleet Academy’s first episode. Therefore, in principle, Starfleet Academy has the potential to act as a new entry point for aspiring Trekkies to explore the Final Frontier, particularly for younger generations unaware of the complex backstory. The series is set in the post-Discovery era, which is relatively unbound by established canon. Essentially, the future history of Starfleet at this point remains unwritten. This creative freedom, paired with the show's unique structure, leads Kurtzman to believe Starfleet Academy could have a lengthy future. “What is their experience like in the field after graduation?” Kurtzman said. “It has the potential to continue for a very long time. Perhaps it will become the Grey’s Anatomy of Star Trek.”Starfleet Academy premieres on Paramount+ on January 15, 2026.
PayDo Introduces Dedicated C2B Open Banking Collections Ecosystem to Revolutionize High-Volume Merchant Payments
EQS via SeaPRwire.com / 14/01/2026 / 11:38 UTC+8 PayDo launches its Dedicated C2B Open Banking Collections Ecosystem, a revolutionary platform designed for high-volume merchants. This innovation addresses operational bottlenecks by providing automated reconciliation and real-time tracking for Open Banking transactions, rendering them as reliable and scalable as traditional card payments. London, UK - January 14, 2026 - (SeaPRwire) - PayDo, a globally regulated payment ecosystem, today announced the launch of its innovative dedicated C2B Open Banking Collections Account. This new initiative is designed to transform how high-volume online businesses handle direct bank payments, effectively eliminating the operational chaos and accounting bottlenecks that have historically hindered the scalability of Open Banking. Photo Courtesy of PayDo The new solution addresses a critical market gap where traditional banking infrastructure treats Open Banking payments as generic, non-descript credit transfers. For e-commerce merchants processing thousands of daily transactions, this previously created a manual reconciliation nightmare. PayDo’s solution reimagines this relationship by providing a unique, managed account environment. Within this ecosystem, every transaction is automatically tagged, tracked, and reconciled in real-time, mirroring the efficiency and clarity of card payments while retaining the cost and speed benefits of Open Banking. “Solving fraud by introducing confirmation of payment receipt instead of initiation was the first step, but to truly unlock Open Banking for commerce, we had to solve for scale,” said Serhii Zakharov, CEO & Founder of PayDo. “Our dedicated C2B Collections Account is engineered to treat direct bank payments with the same efficiency, reporting, and reliability as traditional card acquirers. We’ve moved the needle from making Open Banking ‘possible’ to making it ‘operationally excellent’ for businesses that process millions in volume. This is how you turn a promising rail into a foundational one.” Data from early implementations highlights the system’s robust capacity, with the infrastructure engineered to process immense volumes seamlessly—transforming over 100,000 daily transactions from a logistical challenge into a manageable operational flow. This capability enables merchants to achieve faster settlement times and lower transaction costs without compromising the operational oversight necessary for large-scale commerce. Merchants and online businesses can integrate the C2B Collections Account directly into their existing payment infrastructure, thereby streamlining their reconciliation processes immediately. Visit the PayDo website (www.paydo.com) to learn more about the subject of the press release. About PayDo PayDo is a globally regulated payment ecosystem that consolidates multi-currency accounts, global acquiring, e-wallet checkout, and innovative Open Banking solutions into a single unified platform. With a focus on transforming complex financial challenges into scalable solutions, PayDo processes over €5 billion annually. Air Canada passengers alarmed by screams from cargo hold during taxi
Passengers on an aircraft that was taxiing were reportedly horrified last month when frightening screams suddenly came from beneath the cabin shortly before takeoff. Officials stated that a ground crew member was trapped inside the cargo hold after the doors closed behind him "inadvertently." The outlet reported that the incident occurred on December 13 as Air Canada Flight 1502 was preparing to depart for Moncton, New Brunswick. The Airbus flight, carrying 184 passengers, was canceled as a result of the event. According to passenger accounts given to CBC, alarming sounds of muffled banging and desperate screams quickly spread through the rear of the plane as it taxied toward the runway, causing flight attendants to run down the aisle in concern."Some of the people that were sitting towards the back of the plane heard the person screaming and banging, trying to get their attention," said passenger Gabrielle Caron. "We could see the crew gathering around the plane, so we knew something was happening," she added. "Then, the pilot tells us that there is someone from the crew in the luggage hold."The plane reportedly stopped before it reached the runway. Shortly after, the trapped ground crew member exited the cargo area safely and came into the cabin, assuring startled passengers that he was not hurt, Caron reported. Air Canada confirmed to CBC that the incident resulted in no injuries. Caron further mentioned that the crew member was apparently helping ground staff by loading items as an extra helper and might have been overlooked when the doors were shut. The aircraft later went back to the terminal, where passengers were instructed to get off while the flight crew finished required documentation, CBC reported. After experiencing multiple delays, the flight was canceled, the outlet said. Digital contacted Air Canada for additional details.
Final Game from ‘Fable’ Creator Arrives This Spring, Stranger Than Anticipated
22cansYou may not recognize the name Peter Molyneux, but you likely know his creations. The legendary designer is a giant in the world of 1990s and 2000s computer games, having helped bring to life titles such as Dungeon Keeper, Theme Park, Black and White, and, most notably, the adored RPG franchise Fable. He is now returning for one final project, and based on early impressions, it promises to be as grand in scope and as peculiar as his prior work.Molyneux's upcoming title, Masters of Albion, has just received a launch date and a trailer highlighting its unique fusion of RPG and strategy mechanics. Scheduled for release on April 22, the game is described as a "god game," a category that has largely faded from popularity but was once defined by experiences like Black and White.“Masters of Albion is the culmination of my life’s work,” Molyneux stated in a press release, a sentiment the game's trailer quickly clarifies. The footage begins with an enormous hand overseeing a quasi-medieval settlement, erecting structures and crafting tools, directing villagers in their chores, and even tossing them about playfully like ragdolls. This is classic god-game fare reminiscent of Black and White, though it appears to offer significantly deeper control over the community and its citizens. However, this "Big Hand," as the trailer's narrator plainly calls it, can also inhabit the bodies of townspeople, shifting the gameplay to something more akin to Fable. While controlling a person or animal, the perspective changes to third-person, allowing players to embark on adventures, discover hidden secrets, and likely gain boons to aid the town's growth. The inspiration from Fable later merges with another of Molyneux's hallmarks during a dramatic nightly shift. After dark, the settlement comes under assault from zombies and skeletons intent on destroying buildings and killing residents. In preparation, the Big Hand is shown transforming certain structures into defensive artillery towers, introducing tower defense aspects clearly inspired by Molyneux's dungeon management sim, Dungeon Keeper. These wave-based assaults represent a major departure from the game's daytime peaceful construction, yet they provide a novel and unexpected twist.By night, the Big Hand helps defend the town it builds by day. | 22cansGiven its many moving parts, the success of Masters of Albion will hinge on how cohesively its varied elements combine; it remains to be seen if they will harmonize or clash. This uncertainty is fitting for Molyneux's farewell project. Despite his immense influence, he is also a polarizing figure, notorious for overpromising and underdelivering on his ambitious visions. This pattern has persisted for years, but recent titles have seen the promises grow larger and the results more disappointing, culminating in 2013's Godus stagnating in Steam Early Access before its removal.Considering the past ten years, Masters of Albion serves as both a career finale and an opportunity for Molyneux to restore his reputation. The game is daring, strange, and its overall coherence is hard to predict, but it undoubtedly stands apart from anything else on the market. The next official Fable installment, still without a release date, might be a more reliable choice, but Masters of Albion is by far the more intriguing risk, making it an ideal final act for the designer.Masters of Albion will be released on PC on April 22.
The Long-Awaited Finale of Red Dead Redemption 2’s Hottest Mystery Approaches
Several weeks have passed since was initially discovered. Almost a month on, the investigation appears to be delving deeper than originally anticipated. Participants have uncovered not just an additional clue within this complex puzzle, but also a broader pattern that could guide them toward the final piece of this mystery.Seven days after the community spotted a massive white question mark etched onto a mountain beyond the game's boundaries, another hint emerged in the wilderness. Located just northwest of Fairvale Shanty, adventurers discovered a grassy area on a rocky peak that, from a specific perspective, also shapes into a question mark.As initially noted by a Red Dead Redemption content creator , the two question marks appear identical, indicating these aren't coincidental but deliberately placed for discovery. Expanding on this, dedicated investigators also realized that placing map markers at all current mystery locations creates an inverted question mark shape. Since this formation remains incomplete, it implies participants are both on track and approaching the mystery's conclusion. For those unfamiliar with the story, here's a brief summary: In late December, Reddit users found numerous spider webs draped across telephone poles scattered throughout the game's world. At the web network's center, a larger web indicated a northern direction toward a specific pole. Firing at the pole's base uncovered a concealed message directing explorers northwest to a pair of guitars at a deserted fort. These instruments subsequently guided players to a rooftop adorned with two avian symbols etched into the tiles. The bird markings pointed toward an area called Giant's Nest, where the initial mountainside question mark becomes visible. The intrigue extends beyond Red Dead as well. In December, Grand Theft Auto 5 enthusiasts also located two spider webs on Mount Chiliad, the game's tallest peak. These webs match the ones in Red Dead 2 exactly and materialize only at a particular in-game time. Furthermore, a mechanical fortune-teller called Madam Nazar (who is actually ) references a "web, still tangled after years of unraveling" when used in GTA Online. As many believe the mystery enters its last phase, investigators have a major hint to focus their efforts: all clues appear in pairs. The tally includes two question marks, two bird-themed hints, two guitar-related clues, two electrical pole references, and two spider-related discoveries. Whatever follows will probably be another matched set of distinctive markers leading to the ultimate answer. As pointed out by Strange Man on YouTube, all of the clues mapped out form an inverted question mark. | Strange Man on YouTubeUncovering a seven-year-old secret is a rare occurrence. With Grand Theft Auto 6 on the horizon, this feels like Rockstar's final major mystery left to solve. When contacted for a statement regarding the ongoing search, a Rockstar Games representative declined to comment. If this mystery captivates you as much as it does us, I recommend keeping an eye on the for updates on the resolution. For the bold, now might be the perfect moment to begin your own clue-hunting adventure. Good luck.Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Fujitsu launches demonstration experiment into green steel value flow utilizing blockchain technology to accelerate decarbonization in the steel Industry
Kawasaki, Japan, Jan 14, 2026 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Fujitsu today announced that it has commanced a demonstration experiment into the value flow of green steel [1] in the steel industry starting in December 2025. This project was previously selected by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) as part of its FY2025 Industrial Research Project under the theme Survey Project on the Transmission of Green Steel Information Linked to Steel Materials Across Supply Chains in November 2025.This demonstration experiment will leverage Fujitsu's expertise in CO2 emission reduction materials, blockchain technology, and data distribution platforms to ensure that data can be distributed safely and that the environmental value of green steel and transaction confidentiality can be secured. The experiment will be carried out from December 2025 to February 2026. Through this initiative, Fujitsu seeks to accelerate decarbonization across the manufacturing sector, beginning with the steel industry, and contribute to the establishment of a sustainable supply chain.Through this project, Fujitsu will contribute to environmental initiatives and digital transformation (DX) promotion in the steel industry. Furthermore, based on the knowledge gained from this project, Fujitsu will explore the development of mechanisms for green steel information distribution and the potential for expansion into the steel industry data space from 2026 onwards. Under Uvance, Fujitsu’s business model to solve societal issues, the company will also realize a mechanism that enables the secure and flexible sharing and utilization of reliable environmental value data across national and industry boundaries, thereby advancing corporate competitiveness and the realization of a sustainable society.BackgroundReducing CO2 emissions related to the steel industry is an urgent challenge for society. While industry organizations produce and supply green steel using GX Mass Balance [2] and GX Allocation [3] methods in accordance with established guidelines, there is a challenge in adequately distributing its environmental value throughout the downstream supply chain.Project OverviewThis initiative aims to examine mechanisms for ensuring that environmental value, such as emissions reduction steel certificates issued by steel manufacturers through green steel production, flows through the supply chain from upstream to downstream without being duplicated or compromised. It also seeks to identify challenges in current business practices and operational issues for each business operator when such mechanisms are applied. In this demonstration experiment, Fujitsu will build a data distribution platform environment to ensure traceability of company/industry data and leverage Fujitsu Sustainable Value Accelerator, an offering under Uvance that supports green transformation (GX). With the cooperation of various steel businesses, the experiment will involve distributing third-party certified green steel certificates to verify the uniqueness of environmental value, prevent double-counting, and maintain value when passing through intermediate processors or different distribution channels.[1] Green steel:Steel with significantly reduced CO2 emissions during manufacturing compared to conventional steel (METI Journal ONLINE, Metal Industries Division, April 17, 2025).[2] GX Mass Balance Method:A method that utilizes the "mass balance model" defined in ISO 22095:2020 to pool greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions from additional projects undertaken by a company within its organization, and then allocates these to specific products, supplying them along with reduction certificates (from The Japan Iron and Steel Federation GX Steel Guidelines).[3] GX Allocation Method:An approach based on "allocation" in ISO 14067:2018 and ISO 14044:2006, where GHG total emissions (emission intensity × production volume) are kept constant, and emission reductions are allocated to products (GX steel/non-GX steel) to reflect the relationship between high and low GX value, within the scope of GHG emission reductions (from The Japan Iron and Steel Federation GX Steel Guidelines).Fujitsu’s Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015 represent a set of common goals to be achieved worldwide by 2030.Fujitsu’s purpose — “to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation” — is a promise to contribute to the vision of a better future empowered by the SDGs.About FujitsuFujitsu’s purpose is to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation. Toyota Systems, Fujitsu utilize quantum-inspired technology and AI to streamline on-board computer design and contribute to sustainable development
Nagoya, Tokyo and Kawasaki, Japan, Jan 14, 2026 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Toyota Systems Corporation (Toyota Systems) and Fujitsu Limited, in collaboration with Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota), today announced the successful application of quantum-inspired technology and AI to automate one aspect of the automotive parts design process. In a world first for the automotive industry, the technology was applied to automate the placement design for connector pins, metal parts that enable the transmission of electrical signals across circuits and components. The parts are deployed in the car’s electric control unit (ECU), a small onboard computer that controls the vehicle’s systems. The mobility industry faces demand for sustainable product development and the need to address increasingly complex software and hardware designs but is facing a severe shortage of skilled personnel. In the ECU development process at Toyota, the connector pin placement design for a 100-pin terminal array theoretically involves a vast number of combinations (9.3 x 10^157). This led to prolonged design review times and reliance on individual expertise. To address these issues, Toyota Systems and Fujitsu, in collaboration with Toyota, tried to automate the process applying Toyota's design standards and expertise, Toyota Systems' operational and infrastructure knowledge in Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) analysis [1] for the Toyota Group, and Fujitsu's Digital Annealer, a core component of Fujitsu Computing as a Service, and its AI technology. This initiative involved training an AI model with information on connector pin placement patterns and their evaluation scores, previously determined by the knowledge and experiences of skilled engineers. This AI model was then converted into mathematical expressions and processed at high speed by the Digital Annealer to automatically calculate the optimal connector pin placement. As a result, the process was accelerated by more than 20x compared to conventional methods. Both companies began applying this mechanism in actual operations for Toyota's mass-produced ECUs in parallel with conventional methods starting in May 2025.Moving forward, Toyota Systems aims to expand this development to supplier companies, promoting the application of cutting-edge technology and digitalization in Toyota Group's wider manufacturing processes. Fujitsu will contribute to realizing a safe, secure, and comfortable mobility society by supporting the Toyota Group's sustainable development and design. Both companies will work to improve development speed and quality and reduce costs by expanding the application scope of this mechanism.[1] Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) analysis: Engineering method that simulates product design and performance on a computer, allowing for evaluation and verification. Hidden room set to be built at Chinese embassy near cable lines sparks widespread espionage concerns
Recently released unredacted construction plans for China’s new large-scale embassy in London have sparked widespread concern across the United Kingdom, as blueprints reveal a hidden underground room positioned worryingly close to some of Britain’s most sensitive communication cables.Leading critics of the proposed site—set to be as close as three feet to the internet infrastructure—warned that the hidden room could serve as a hub for Chinese espionage. While the British government reportedly assured its allies that the lines do not carry sensitive government data, the cables transmit financial transactions as well as communication traffic for millions of internet users. The blueprints were publicly unredacted Monday by , just one week before Prime Minister Keir Starmer is widely expected to approve the plans ahead of his visit to meet President in China.A government spokesman told the outlet that despite the security concerns, "national security is our first duty and government security experts have been involved throughout the process so far."According to the blueprint, the facility will be located at the and will become Europe’s largest Chinese embassy.Construction plans indicate that China intends to demolish and rebuild a basement wall, placing officials and equipment just over three feet from critical fiber-optic cables. Security experts have warned that such proximity could create opportunities for "cable-tapping," which involves inserting wiretaps or reading light signals leaking from the lines.Professor Alan Woodward, a security expert at the University of Surrey, highlighted the technical feasibility of espionage given the physical layout, The Telegraph reported. He described the demolition as a "red flag" and noted, "If I were in their shoes, having those cables on my doorstep would be an enormous temptation."Additionally, the concealed chamber appears to be equipped with at least two hot-air extraction systems designed to ventilate heat-generating equipment. Experts reportedly inferred that this infrastructure suggests the room is designed to accommodate such as advanced computers typically used for espionage and data processing.Beyond the single chamber near the cables, the unredacted plans also revealed a network of 208 secret rooms beneath the diplomatic site. The basement appears to include emergency backup generators, sprinkler systems, communications cabling and showers, suggesting officials could remain underground for extended periods—potentially to operate or monitor equipment. The construction plans have generally raised fears that the London complex could serve as a Beijing intelligence hub. According to a U.K. outlet , Britain has been pressured to reassure the United States and other intelligence partners that the cables do not transmit any sensitive government data.Alicia Kearns, the shadow national security minister and prominent critic of the project, described the approval of the embassy as handing Beijing a strategic advantage against British interests."Giving China the go-ahead for its embassy site would be to gift them a launchpad for economic warfare at the very heart of the central nervous system of our critical financial national infrastructure," she said in a post on X.
Six Decades Later, the Final ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Teaser Brings Together Two Iconic Super Allies
Marvel is achieving feats once considered impossible. The studio first reunited the Russo brothers and Robert Downey, Jr., followed by the returns of Steve Rogers and Thor. Furthermore, it has released not one or two, but four teasers for the film, despite it being a year away from release. These four previews were presumably meant to run alongside screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash to drive weekly ticket sales. In practice, they primarily fueled anticipation for the trailers' eventual online release. The hype remains undiminished, however. Now, Marvel unveils its final reveal: a long-awaited encounter with deep roots in comic book history. Watch the teaser below:The footage features Shuri, the Black Panther, and M’Baku, the King of Wakanda, traversing a vast desert. “I've lost everyone that matters to me,” Shuri narrates. “The king has his duties to prepare our people for the afterlife. I have mine.” The teaser cuts to Namor and the Talonkanil observing the desert, followed by King M’Baku meeting Ben Grimm. This finally integrates the Fantastic Four into the MCU, after hints in The Fantastic Four: First Steps and the Thunderbolts post-credits scene. While this alliance may appear unexpected—highlighted by Ben mentioning his Lower East Side street (the iconic Yancy Street from Marvel comics)—the connection between Black Panther and the Fantastic Four is historically significant. Black Panther first appeared in Fantastic Four #52, released in April 1966.Ben Grimm introduces himself in the fourth teaser for Avengers: Doomsday. | Marvel StudiosWhat does this imply for Avengers: Doomsday? Firstly, it confirms the safe arrival of Marvel's First Family on Earth. It also suggests a potential team-up between these two factions of the MCU. Given the enormous ensemble, not every character will interact directly, so uniting the Wakandans with the Fantastic Four could create a compelling subplot about heroes unfamiliar with this version of Earth. If you feel compelled to analyze this brief clip, that's the point. The Russo Brothers shared the teaser with an enigmatic message urging exactly that. “What you’ve been watching for the last four weeks… are not teasers. Or trailers,” the post states. “They are stories. They are clues…Pay attention.”These four teasers, or "stories," have been brief and minimal, yet they supposedly contain a deeper significance we have yet to decipher. We have under a year to solve the puzzle.Avengers: Doomsday premieres in theaters on December 18.
