
Police reported that “multiple” individuals sustained stab wounds on a train in the on Saturday night.
According to authorities, the assault in Huntigdon, Cambridgeshire, transpired before 8 p.m. local time, leading to the apprehension of two men following knife injuries sustained by ten individuals.
The Cambridgeshire Constabulary communicated that they “were called at 7.39pm with reports that multiple people had been stabbed on a train,” further stating that “Armed officers attended and the train was stopped at Huntingdon, where two men were arrested. A number of people have been taken to hospital.”
Huntingdon is situated approximately 19 miles northwest of Cambridge and about 75 miles north of London.
The local police force indicated that the British Transport Police is overseeing the investigation.
Ben Obese-Jecty, the British Member of Parliament (MP) for Huntingdon, posted on X late Saturday, confirming his awareness of the incident and his efforts to gather additional information.
He conveyed his sentiment, writing: “My thoughts are with the victims and those involved.”
The British Prime Minister also offered his sympathies on X.
He stated: “The appalling incident on a is deeply concerning. My thoughts are with all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services for their response. Anyone in the area should follow the advice of the police.”
Following the assault, the local football club likewise extended its thoughts and prayers.
Around 11 p.m. local time on Saturday night, Huntingdon Town FC conveyed on X: “The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Huntingdon Town FC tonight are with the victims and their families from this evening’s local incident.” The club further added: “We send our thanks and thoughts to colleagues in the police, ambulance and other agencies supporting this that are also affected.”
