(SeaPRwire) –   Humanity is preparing to go back to the Moon for the first time in over 50 years, since 1972. The Artemis II mission is scheduled for launch from Kennedy Space Center on April 1, 2026, potentially marking the start of a new age in space exploration. Despite some previous delays and challenges, all systems were reported to be ready for launch as of Wednesday morning.

Below is a guide to watching the Artemis II launch live today, along with key details about the crew and the objectives of this NASA mission to orbit the Moon.

How to Stream the Artemis II Launch

The launch of Artemis II is planned for 6:24 p.m. Eastern Time from Launch Complex 39B at Kennedy Space Center. Live streaming of the launch and the pre-launch activities will be available on the free NASA+ app and its YouTube channel. The NASA+ app is compatible with most smart TVs and Roku devices.

Live coverage will start at 12:50 p.m. Eastern Time, featuring the pre-launch procedures and information about the mission. Any decision to cancel the launch will be communicated promptly.

The Artemis II crew includes:

  • Reid Wiseman, Commander
  • Victor Glover, Pilot
  • Christina Koch, Mission Specialist 1
  • Jeremy Hansen, Mission Specialist 2

Artemis II’s main objective is to complete a lunar orbit and return safely to Earth. This mission serves as a critical test, paving the way for the Artemis IV Moon landing planned for 2027. While the primary aim is to test the Orion spacecraft system, the crew will also fly over a previously unexplored region of the Moon. A key point is that the spacecraft will travel over the far side of the Moon, which is never visible from Earth.

The full mission is expected to take approximately 10 days from launch to splashdown. The lunar flyby is projected to happen on the mission’s sixth day, around April 7.
