(SeaPRwire) –   New York remains the city that never sleeps within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s the battleground where the Avengers repelled Loki’s invasion, the hometown where Kate Bishop and Peter Parker were raised, the place where Steve Rogers witnessed whales in the Hudson post-Snap, and where Clint Barton operated as Ronin after Avengers: Endgame before catching Rogers: The Musical on Broadway.

Yet, amidst these high-profile Avengers exploits, Matt Murdock has been quietly active in Hell’s Kitchen. With Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, he is now firmly established within the MCU, but this integration is creating obvious and awkward continuity problems that grow more puzzling with each new detail.

Marvel has recently refreshed the official chronology for all MCU productions, from Eyes of Wakanda to Wonder Man. These listings are typically straightforward, clearly indicating when each story takes place. However, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is now positioned after several other projects, including Thunderbolts—another New York-based MCU story.

The issue is that the frankly horrifying events of Thunderbolts receive no acknowledgment in the season’s premiere. There is a nod to Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, the team’s founder, as she is the one who calls to endorse the enigmatic Mr. Charles, but that is the extent of it. Had this season been set prior to Thunderbolts, it would be less problematic since Valentina was active then, but this updated timeline placement simply introduces more confusion.

Given that Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again focuses heavily on public opinion regarding vigilantes, it is striking that no one references the superheroes who saved New Yorkers from being literally turned into shadows, or notes that the villain they battled, the Void, was originally the hero known as Sentinel.

This marks another MCU story that logically should affect the world of Daredevil’s New York, yet appears completely irrelevant. Somehow, Spider-Man is never discussed, even though the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer shows the city is not only aware of him but he is later awarded the key to the city—a dramatic reversal for a metropolis that once formed an Anti-Vigilante Task Force.

Perhaps there is an exceedingly complex explanation, as Marvel has previously invoked the “multiple timelines/dimensions” rationale. However, Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 emphasized weaving its narrative into established canon, referencing past characters like The Swordsman. Could the major MCU films arriving in 2026 and 2027—Doomsday and Secret Wars—reveal that Daredevil exists in a slightly different alternate reality? It’s possible, but not certain.

For now, there is no grounds to excuse it: Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is undeniably part of the MCU, yet it persistently overlooks all the other cataclysmic events that occurred mere streets away.
