The base pattern only costs $8 to buy from the Mary Maxim website, but tweaking this vintage pattern to match the on-screen sweater exactly is a bit more complicated. If you compare the original pattern and the movie sweater side by side, there’s one major difference: The animals on Ryland Grace’s sweater look far less intimidating, with bigger eyes and no extended tongue sticking out. Leiker noticed this gap, but didn’t know exactly how the patterns differed — she knit the sweater following the original pattern first, planning to adapt it later.
