OVER P37 million worth of infrastructure and agriculture products were damaged due to the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Florita in northern and southern Luzon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Friday, August 26, 2022.In its situational report, the NDRRMC said P3.4 million worth of agriculture was damaged by Florita in the Ilocos Region.For infrastructure, the agency pegged the damage at P33.7 million, of which P10.2 million was from the Ilocos Region and 23.5 million from Cagayan Valley.It said 33 houses incurred minor to major damage due to the Florita onslaught.Florita battered northern Luzon, particularly the Ilocos, Cagayan and Cordillera regions, earlier the week.It also affected southern Luzon, particularly Bicol Region, due to the enhanced southwest monsoon.The NDRRMC said a total of 17,510 families or 71,468 individuals were affected by the weather system, of which over 4,000 individuals were displaced due to flooding or threat of landslides.The disaster bureau earlier said that displaced families have already returned to their respective residences.Three people were reported dead due to the effects of Florita while four were injured.
