TROPICAL Depression “Gardo” is seen to merge with Super Typhoon Hinnamnor while inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, Pagasa said Gardo was located at 1,065 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, gusts of up to 70 kph and central pressure of 10 hpa.It was moving northwestward at 10 kph.While Gardo is unlikely to directly affect the weather condition in the country, it is expected to degenerate into a remnant low as early as Wednesday afternoon or evening as Hinnamnor begins to assimilate its circulation, said Pagasa.The weather bureau said Gardo is also expected to intensify into a tropical storm.Hinnamnor is expected to enter PAR on Wednesday night or Thursday morning. It will be named Super Typhoon Henry.It is the first super typhoon to enter PAR this year.Hinnamnor was last spotted at 1,485 kilometers east-northeast of extreme northern Luzon with 185 km/h maximum sustained winds and gusts of up to 230 km/h.The weather bureau urged residents particularly in low-lying and landslide-prone areas to brace for the upcoming bad weather.
