Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed a “proposition” on Friday to exchange Ukraine’s drone capabilities for American high-precision, long-range Tomahawk missiles.

Zelenskyy stated that “thousands of drones” are necessary to achieve a military objective, emphasizing that a solitary military asset is insufficient for victory in a conflict driven by technology.

He elaborated, “Ukraine possesses thousands of these drones, yet we lack Tomahawks. This is why Tomahawks are essential for us.” He continued, “The United States has Tomahawks and other powerful missiles, and in return, they could receive our thousands of drones.”

He concluded by saying, “This presents an opportunity for collaboration.”

When questioned by reporters regarding his potential “interest” in facilitating a drone agreement with Ukraine, Trump responded affirmatively, stating, “Yeah, we would.”

Trump further remarked, “We currently possess numerous drones. We manufacture our own, but we also acquire them from other sources, and their drones are very effective.”

The president recognized that providing Ukraine with these advanced missiles, which have the capability to strike targets beyond Moscow, would constitute an “escalation.”

Trump described Tomahawks as “a big deal,” and noted his “obligation” to ensure the U.S. maintains a “completely stocked” supply for its defensive requirements.

He reasoned, “Because you can never predict what will transpire in times of war and peace, can you? You never know what might happen.”

On Friday, Trump seemed disinclined to approve giving Tomahawks to Zelenskyy, expressing a preference for the war’s conclusion.

Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin reached an agreement on Thursday for an in-person meeting in Hungary; however, the specific date remains undetermined.

It is improbable that Zelenskyy will attend this meeting.
