Rudy Giuliani, the former personal lawyer for former U.S. President Donald Trump, departs from the E. Barrett Prettyman U.S. District Courthouse after a verdict was reached in his defamation jury trial in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 15, 2023.

Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City Mayor, who also served as a lawyer and advisor to President Donald Trump, is experiencing a “tremendous recovery,” as reported by his head of security and local police, following injuries sustained in a New Hampshire car crash on Saturday.

Giuliani, 81, was a passenger in a Ford Bronco driven by his spokesperson, Ted Goodman, when a Honda RV operated by a 19-year-old woman “collided with the rear” of their vehicle just before 10 p.m. The impact propelled both cars into the median strip, resulting in significant damage, New Hampshire police reported on Sunday.

Troopers and fire personnel witnessed the collision and promptly provided assistance, police added. Goodman and the 19-year-old driver, identified as Lauren Kemp, suffered “non-life-threatening” injuries and were transported to hospitals for medical attention.

Michael Ragusa, Giuliani’s head of security, stated on Sunday that the now-lawyer and podcast host had been “flagged down by a woman who was the victim of a domestic violence incident” prior to the crash. Giuliani had “immediately rendered assistance” and remained at the scene until officers arrived to ensure her safety.

Shortly after, while traveling on the highway, Giuliani’s car was struck from behind “at high speed.”

Ragusa mentioned that Giuliani was transported to a nearby trauma center, where he was diagnosed with a fractured thoracic vertebra and multiple lacerations and contusions. Giuliani also sustained injuries to his left arm and lower leg.

“This was not a targeted attack,” Ragusa affirmed, further requesting respect for Giuliani’s privacy and recuperation and urging individuals to “refrain from spreading unfounded conspiracy theories.”

Giuliani is “fully alert and conscious, and his medical team is pleased with his progress,” Ragusa conveyed in a statement to NPR on Sunday, adding that the former mayor “is eager to return to his work and looks forward to getting back to business in just a few days.”

Giuliani’s own X account shared a news story about the incident and expressed gratitude to Maria Ryan, “who is a board certified nurse practitioner overseeing the care of America’s Mayor. (Nurse practitioners perform all medical functions of a doctor except for surgical procedures).”

State police indicated that the crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed.

“Thank you to all the people that have reached out since learning the news about my Father,” Rudy Giuliani’s son Andrew, who currently leads the White House task force on the 2026 World Cup, posted on X. “Your prayers mean the world.”
