THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has ordered the revocation of the license to own and possess firearms (LTOPF) of Pilar, Abra Vice Mayor Jaja Josefina Disono following the shootout there that resulted in the killing of her security aide.PNP Firearms and Explosives Office Chief Brigadier General Alvin Delvo said they also cancelled the LTOPF of Disono’s husband Noel and brother, Pilar, Abra Mayor Mark Somera.Delvo said nine firearms were registered under Disono, including five pistols, two shotguns and two rifles, while his husband has eight.Somera has seven registered firearms, including five pistols, one revolver and one shotgun.Delvo said aside from violating the prevailing Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban, Disono also did not follow the comprehensive firearms and ammunition law, which prohibits an LTOPF holder from letting another person carry or use his or her firearms.“You are no allowed to transfer the right of your firearms to other person especially if the person is not [an LTOPF holder]…bawal na nga ipahiram dun pa sa taong walang LTOPF,” he said.“Since revoke ang kanilang LTOPF, if seen bringing their firearms, they can be subjected to arrest and confiscation of the firearms,” he added.Delvo warned politicians over the illegal use and bringing of firearms during the election period.On March 29, a shootout happened after the vehicle carrying Disono refused to stop at a police checkpoint.Killed during the incident was Disono’s bodyguard, Sandee Boy Bermudo.Two policemen were also injured.The Comelec said it will also conduct an investigation on the incident and it may result in the disqualification of the Disonos’ certificate of candidacy for the upcoming polls.
