PHILIPPINE Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Wilkins Villanueva said he has tested positive for the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“As I was preparing for the Senate inquiry on Monday, I took my RT-PCR at the Chinese General Hospital yesterday (Saturday) as part of the requirement. This morning, I received the result. I tested positive,” he said in a Facebook post Sunday, March 14.

“I’m sorry to all the people that I had close contact for the past days. Please take necessary precaution,” he added.

Villanueva said he will go into isolation.

He was scheduled to the attend the Senate inquiry on the February 24 shootout between the police and PDEA agents in Quezon City which killed four people.
