THE alleged middleman in the killing of veteran radio broadcasted Percy Lapid (real name: Percival Mabasa) died due to hemorrhage in the heart, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said.

The NBI said following an autopsy examination on the body of Jun Villamor that his heart showed a hemorrhagic area over the left ventricle.

“The mitral valve is sclerotic, which could indicate previous illnesses or valvular infection,” it said.

It said that there were also “no apparent signs of external physical injury on the body.

The Covid-19 antigen test of Villamor also yielded negative results.

Villamor, who was detained at the New Bilibid Prison, died on October 18, hours after self-confessed gunman Joel Escorial, who admitted participation in Lapid’s killing, made a public appearance following his surrender.

Escorial positively identified Villamor through photographs as the person who called and ordered them to kill Lapid.

He also identified three other individuals involved in the crime who were still at large. Murder charges have already been filed against Escorial and the three others.

Police said Villamor is a key witness for the identification of the mastermind in the killing.

Another alleged middleman, Jose Villamor, Jun’s cousin, has already been secured by the police at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame.

Meanwhile, Lapid’s brother Roy Mabasa called for help with the conduct of an independent autopsy on Villamor’s body.

“Makakatulong po ‘yan (independent autopsy) na mapayapa ang aming kalooban,” he said in a radio interview.
