INCOMING President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will hold his inauguration at the National Museum of the Philippines. In a statement, Zenaida Angping, who was designated by Marcos as his Presidential Management Staff, said the National Museum of the Philippines was identified as the “suitable venue” following the conduct of inspection.”The National Museum of Philippines building and its surrounding areas match our requirements for President-elect Marcos’ inauguration,” Angping said.”Preparations are already in full swing to ensure that it will be ready by then,” she added.Among the former Presidents who took their out at the venue were Manuel Quezon, Jose Laurel and Manuel Roxas.Angping said they also considered holding the inauguration at the Quirino Grandstand where late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. took oath but found that it is still being used as Covid-19 field hospitals.”The safety and welfare of our people are paramount. As such, we chose to avoid disrupting the medical care being given to the Covid-19 patients housed there. That’s why we opted for the National Museum as the venue,” she said.Marcos Jr. was proclaimed as the 19th President of the Philippines on May 25 following a landslide win against his rivals. His running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, was also proclaimed as the incoming Vice President of the country. The inauguration will take place at 12 noon of June 30.
