THE Marcos administration has gained positive ratings on major issues hounding the Philippines except in controlling inflation, which accelerated to 6.9 percent in September 2022.

In a survey conducted by Pulse Asia Research Inc. from September 17 to 21, 2022, which was participated by 1,200 adult respondents, the government received a -11 net approval rating (NAR) for its efforts in controlling the increase of prices of consumer goods and services at a certain period of time.

The government got the highest NAR of +75 for its performance in responding to the needs of areas affected by calamities followed by controlling the spread of Covid-19 at +74 NAR.

The other issues with positive NAR were protecting the welfare of overseas Filipino workers, promoting peace in the country, fighting criminality, enforcing the law on all, whether influential or ordinary people, creating more jobs, stopping the destruction and abuse of the environment, increasing the pay of workers, fighting graft and corruption in government, defending the integrity of Philippine territory against foreigners and reducing the poverty of many Filipinos.

The survey showed that six out of every ten respondents believed that controlling inflation is the most urgent national concern followed by the increase of salaries, creating more jobs and reducing poverty.

The Philippine Statistics Authority earlier said that the acceleration of the inflation rate was primarily due to the higher annual growth rate in the index for food and non-alcoholic beverages at 7.4 percent, from only 6.3 percent in August. (SunStar Philippines)
