AHEAD of the commemoration of All Souls Day, the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros is inviting the faithful to offer Mass and light candles for their departed loved ones.

In a social media post, the Manila Cathedral said it is opening its Blessed Souls Chapel to the public from October 14 to November 9.

“The Blessed Souls Chapel inside the Manila Cathedral will be open to the public, who may want to offer Mass intentions and light votive candles for the souls of the faithful departed,” said the Manila Cathedral.

The Manila Cathedral is open daily from 7 am to 5 pm.

Every year, it has been part of Filipino tradition to troop to cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaries to visit their departed loved ones, offer prayers, light candles, and give flowers.

It was different, however, over the past two years as cemeteries, memorial parks and columbaries were declared close in 2020 and 2021 during the days prior until after “Undas” as part of the safety measures against coronavirus disease (Covid-19). (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
