NINE months before the May 2022 elections, the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) launched a nine-month series of novena masses for the success of the next electoral exercises.

In a statement on Friday, September 10, 2021, the PPCRV said the “Prayer Power Campaign 2022” will run until the Election Day on May 9, 2022 in order to call for prayer for the election of officials with good moral standards.

“This is to implore the aid of the Divine Providence for Filipinos to do their share to ensure that voting, counting, and canvassing in the 2022 National Elections proceed in an orderly, peaceful, honest, and credible manner,” said PPCRV.

“Let our every action in these elections be guided by these basic values for good citizenship so that those elected be exemplars of these values,” it added.

The church-based organization said the faithful’s cooperation is necessary as being concerned with the society is part of the values needed in being a child of God.

This has been reiterated by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines by calling for heroic Christian citizenship, good citizenship, and responsible citizenship in the past.

“Basic values need to be conscientiously and consistently lived, and shared, by all Filipinos of whatever age, sector, position, and station in life for the desired improvement to take place,” it said.

“To be a good citizen is part of being holy. This is the path to the renewal of Philippine public life,” added PPCRV.

Kalookan Bishop Pablo David was tapped for the first of the novena mass series for the May 2022 polls.
