THE Department of Health (DOH) is reconstituting the member agencies of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) created for the management of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, Malacañang said Tuesday, July 19, 2022.In a statement following a meeting between President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and DOH officials, Malacañang said the IATF will keep agencies “with relevant and intended functions.”While the reorganization is ongoing, DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said they will streamline IATF meetings and processes for the issuance of clear directives to assist in the “safe reopening.”DOH sits at the lead agency in the IATF.Vergeire said they will also utilize the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) platform in replacement of the National Task Force Against Covid-19 (NTF).“The platform will replace the National Task Force Against Covid-19 (NTF) to integrate it with the regular processes,” she said.“This will allow the IATF health expert groups to continue their work as they serve as the voice of science in the country,” she added.Part of Marcos’ priority programs is the reorganization of government agencies, particularly to remove redundant positions and processes in a bid to ensure the just allocation of government resources and a simplified internal management.
