THE National Government has extended the fourth leg of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) Bayanihan, Bakunahan with a target to inoculate more elderlies, Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.Cabotaje said the Bayanihan, Bakunahan was extended until Friday, March 18, to give local government units (LGUs) the chance to vaccinate more individuals. The vaccination was supposed to run from March 10 to March 12.Cabotaje said the vaccination of the general population for the primary series and booster shots was also extended until Tuesday morning, March 15.”Pinagbigyan natin ang hiling ng ibang rehiyon at LGUs na ituloy ang bakunahan hanggang ngayong umaga Tuesday para sa general population…Magrere-strategize sila ngayon at kahapon para mapaigting ang A2 (elderly). Ang A2, i-extend natin hanggang Biyernes,” she said in a Laging Handa public briefing.(We granted the request of other regions and LGUs to continue the vaccination until Tuesday for the general population…They will re-strategize today and yesterday to inoculate more elderies. We will extend until Friday the A2 vaccination.)As of Monday, March 14, Cabotaje said 1.4 million vaccine doses have been administered since March 10.The government earlier said it targets to inoculate 1.8 million individuals during the massive vaccination drive.Cabotaje said there is “slow uptake” of Covid-19 jabs due to vaccine complacency amid the continuously decreasing number of Covid-19 cases in the country. As of March 13, 64,540,840 individuals have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
