THE Department of Health (DOH) on Friday, September 2, 2022, said that the nearly 3,000 deaths involving individuals given coronavirus disease (Covid-19) jabs were not necessarily caused by the vaccines themselves. In a press conference, DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said the public must be careful in interpreting data as reports of deaths involving Covid-jabbed individuals have other causes of death.”When we look at the data, we must be careful. These include the statement that it will still be assessed if they were causally related to the Covid vaccines,” said Vergeire.”This means that not all deaths reported were due to the Covid vaccine. Not all of these are causally related to our vaccination program. These do not necessarily mean that the vaccines caused the deaths of these individuals,” she added.Vergeire issued the statement after the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) said in a separate press conference on Friday that nearly 3,000 have died after being given Covid jabs.According to PAO, government officials pushing for the administration of Covid-19 vaccines may be held liable in cases of serious adverse events, such as hospitalization, physical disability or death.Based on the latest data from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), there have been 2,620 fatal events reported among Covid vaccine recipients, as of August 6.The FDA report stated that most of the fatal events reported involved persons with multiple existing comorbidities, such as cardiovascular diseases, chemic heart diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, and infections like pneumonia.”Underlying conditions or pre-existing medical conditions causing fatal events are usually coincidental on the use of the vaccine,” said the report.”Reports of fatal outcome does not necessarily mean that the vaccine caused the events,” added the FDA.As of September 1, almost 76 million Filipinos have already been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.More than 18 million individuals have also received their first booster dose, while almost 3 million have been given the second booster shots.
