THE Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday, June 5, 2021, reported nearly 200 deaths for the third day in a row as over 100 cases that were previously tagged as recovered have been validated to be deaths.

Based on the June 5 case bulletin, there were 6,955 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), increasing the total to 1,262,273.

The 195 additional mortalities raised the death toll to 21,732. The case fatality rate remained at 1.72 percent.

There were 8,109 new recoveries, bringing the total to 1,180,998, or 93.6 percent of the total case count.

There remained 59,543 active cases, or 4.7 percent of the total count.

The daily positivity rate was still high at 13.2 percent out of the 48,668 samples tested on June 3.
