A DAY after the Philippines reported the highest number of deaths due to coronavirus disease (Covid-19) at 423, the Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday, October 31, 2021, saw just over 120 individuals who succumbed to the disease.

In its case bulletin Sunday, the DOH reported 128 new deaths, increasing the country’s death toll to 43,172. The case fatality rate stood at 1.55 percent.

The DOH also listed 3,410 new Covid-19 cases, which brought the total nationwide tally to 2,787,276.

The positivity rate of the country was at 7.2 percent out of the 46,450 tests conducted on October 29.

The health department also reported 5,825 recoveries or 96.8 percent, raising the total recoveries to 2,698,871.

Active cases remained at 45,233 or 1.6 percent of the Covid-19 cases in the country.

Of the active cases, 73.6 percent were mild, 11.8 percent were moderate, 6.8 percent were severe, 4.9 percent were asymptomatic, and 2.9 percent were critical. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
