CHARGES of murder and frustrated murder have been filed against the suspect in the killing of former Lamitan City mayor Rose Furigay and two others inside the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) premises in Quezon City over the weekend.Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo said three counts of murder and frustrated murder have been filed by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) against Dr. Chao-Tiao Yumol before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.He said these charges were in relation to violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act considering the use of firearms in the commission of a crime.Complaints for violation of New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 and malicious mischief amounting to P80,000 were also filed against the suspect.On Sunday afternoon, July 24, Yumol shot dead Furigay, who was then walking her way inside the Areté building of AdMU to attend her daughter’s law school graduation.Two other persons, including an AdMU security personnel, were killed in the incident.As he tried to escape the scene, Yumol snatched a vehicle from a motorist.He was immediately arrested meters away from Ateneo through the help of the public.
