THE Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, reported a drop in active coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the Philippines, with 23,846 individuals or 0.8 percent remaining active.

Of the active cases, 58.1 percent were mild, 19.60 percent were moderate, 12 percent were severe, 5 percent were critical and 5.2 percent were asymptomatic.

In its Wednesday case bulletin, the DOH also reported 1,190 fresh cases nationwide.

The new Covid-19 cases brought the total caseload to 2,820,494.

The health department also reported 309 new mortalities, raising the Philippines’ death toll to 46,117 or 1.64 percent.

The health agency added of the 309 reported deaths, only 18 occurred in November 2021.

Sixty-one percent of deaths logged on Wednesday occurred in October 2021 due to late encoding of death information to COVIDKaya.

“This issue is currently being coordinated with the Epidemiology and Surveillance Units to ensure information is up to date,” the DOH said.

The health agency also said a total of 2,769 individuals have also recovered from the disease, bringing the total recoveries to 2,750,531 or 97.5 percent.

As for the health care utilization rate, 33 percent of intensive care units, 29 percent of isolation beds, 21 percent of ward beds and 21 percent of ventilators have been utilized.

According to the DOH, one laboratory failed to submit data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System on November 15.

Over the past 14 days, the contribution of the one laboratory was approximately 0.1 percent in all samples tested and 0.1 percent in all positive individuals.
