AFTER three days of session, the Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), has canvassed 70 percent of the total number of Certificates of Canvass (COCs).In a press briefing, acting Comelec spokesman John Rex Laudiangco said the NBOC has already canvassed 121 out of 173 COCs, as of Thursday night, May 12.”We really hope that all these things will work out so that we could proclaim the soonest. So far, we are within our projected timelines,” said Laudiangco. He also noted how the NBOC has received full transmission of COCs from all regions in the country, except Northern Mindanao, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm), and overseas voting. The poll official said Northern Mindanao will reach 100 percent once the COC of Cagayan de Oro City is transmitted, while Barmm is only waiting for the Lanao del Sur COC.As for overseas voting, he said they are just waiting for the COC from Hong Kong, as well as those from 26 posts that used the manual system of voting.Laudiangco said they expect the canvassing of local absentee voting to be completed Friday, May 13, and transmitted to the NBOC by Saturday night. To note, the NBOC has been canvassing votes for senators and partylists at the Philippine International Convention Center Forum Tent in Pasay City since Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
