THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said 29 more Filipino seafarers who were stranded amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine arrived in the Philippines on Wednesday, March 9, 2022.Twenty of the 29 were crew members of M/V Global Aglaia, two from M/V Joseph Schulte and seven from M/V Star Helena.They exited Ukraine via Moldova with the assistance of the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Chisinau and the Philippine Embassy in Budapest.The DFA said 55 seafarers have been repatriated from Ukraine so far.READ: 21 stranded seafarers in Ukraine arrive in Philippines“The department expects more seafarers to arrive in the country in the next few days through its evacuation and repatriation programs,” it said.At least 36 individuals, including Filipinos and their Ukrainian families, have also arrived in the country amid the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.The DFA raised the crisis alert level 4 in Ukraine due to the “rapidly deteriorating situation” there, prompting the mandatory repatriation of all Filipinos at the expense of the National Government.
