THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has arrested one of the nine former cops who are facing murder charges over the killing of four Philippine Army personnel in Jolo, Sulu in June 2020.In a statement on Sunday, April 17, 2022, the CIDG said Abdulzhimer Halisan Padjiri was arrested during the service of an arrest warrant on April 15 in Barangay San Raymundo, Jolo, Sulu.“In the attempt to escape from the arrest, the suspect jumped out of the fence of the target house and entered the house of Mudzna Hamsaji, who reported on the presence of an unidentified person for trespassing which prompted the CIDG personnel to effect the arrest,” the CIDG said.Padjiri was one of the nine cops who has a standing arrested warrant for the murder of four army intelligence officers, namely, Major Marvin Indammog, Captain Irwin Managuelod, Sergeant Jaime Velasco and Corporal Abdal Asula. The other cops charged and are now considered fugitives are Hanie U. Baddiri, Iskandar I. Susulan Ernisar P. Sappal, Sulki M. Andaki and Mohammad Nur E. Pasani, all former members of the Jolo Municipal Police Station; and Almudzrin M. Hadjaruddin, Alkajal J. Mandangan and Rajiv G. Putalan of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Sulu.On June 29, 2020, the policemen executed the victims who were then conducting an intelligence operation against two suspected bombers in the province, in the guise of a legitimate police operation. The police earlier claimed that it was a “misencounter” after the army personnel refused to undergo verification in a checkpoint.CCTV footage, however, showed that the victims did not fire a single shot which belied the claims of the police.
