LONDON, Dec. 12, 2025 — The North West is the UK’s leading region for enjoying live music.
A new study commissioned by The London Essentials shows that residents of the North West are the most likely to attend gigs over the course of a year, even though London retains the title for the most frequent concert-goers.
The London Essentials, a top international touring party band, surveyed a representative group of 2,000 adults to gauge nationwide support for live music. This research comes at a challenging time for many grassroots venues fighting to survive the cost-of-living crisis.
- Interest in supporting live music was highest in the North West (87%). Across the UK, attending gigs is now more popular in Scotland (81%) than in England (78%) or Wales (69%).
- People in the North West and Scotland tend to attend fewer, more special concerts annually. For instance, 29% in the North West typically go to gigs a couple of times a year, but they are also the biggest spenders, with 53% usually paying over £50 per ticket.
- While the North West shows broader support for gigs throughout the year, Londoners who attend are the UK’s most frequent live music fans. Leading all regions, 18% of Londoners go to a gig most weeks, and 19% attend shows monthly.
Ben Matthews, Founder of The London Essentials, said: “Our research highlights two very encouraging facts: first, that seven out of ten people genuinely value live music experiences, and second, that live music remains a vital part of life in every UK region. As the ultimate international party band, The London Essentials proudly represents the UK overseas, entertaining global audiences with the best of British music—from Queen and the Spice Girls to Ed Sheeran and The Beatles. We believe music concerts across the UK are cherished events, and our performances are designed to create those unique moments for special occasions.”
