As World Soil Day approaches, it is appropriate to once more draw attention to this intricate, delicate, and frequently ignored ecosystem. Soils are vital, serving as the basis for all life, sustaining the growth of plants and animals, and indeed, humanity itself. Recent data from the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) indicates that healthy soil holds twice the carbon of the atmosphere, supports 50% of terrestrial biodiversity, improves water filtration, and can hold up to 20 times more water. Nevertheless, more than 40% of global soils are currently degraded due to erosion, urbanization, pollution, or excessive use. This condition is not just an ecological concern; it poses a pervasive threat to our food supply, ability to withstand climate change, and overall economic stability.

A Global Forum Promoting United Efforts to Protect and Restore Soils

Established by Moët Hennessy in 2022, the World Living Soils Forum has become the premier international gathering for individuals and organizations dedicated to soil health. It convenes scientists, agriculturalists, governmental bodies, non-profit organizations, emerging businesses, investors, and corporations to exchange insights, cutting-edge solutions, and practical experiences to further the transformation of agriculture and viticulture.

Moët Hennessy is upholding its commitments by announcing the third iteration of the World Living Soils Forum, scheduled for June 3 and 4, 2026, at LUMA Arles, and once again co-hosted with ChangeNOW.

To expand this initiative and transcend industry-specific and competitive barriers, Moët Hennessy has decided to revise the World Living Soils Forum’s governance structure. This involves integrating companies that, like Moët Hennessy, are dedicated to soil regeneration into the event’s planning and execution. These participating companies will contribute by consolidating their insights and professional networks, as well as by championing innovative practical solutions at both regional and global scales. They will become part of the Advisory Board, which consists of sixteen external specialists responsible for supervising and directing the forum’s content and overall agenda.
