UK police have released fresh details about victims and suspects after Saturday night’s aboard a train in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.

Several patients are still in a life-threatening condition following the stabbing, an incident that wounded at least 11 individuals. Police confirmed the suspects were “born in the U.K.” and are being held in custody as of Sunday morning.

“This is a deeply shocking incident, and my thoughts are with all those who have been hurt and their families,” stated British Transport Police Superintendent John Loveless in a declaration.

Loveless characterized the two suspects as “a 32-year-old man, a black British national, and a 35-year-old man, a .” He confirmed both were apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder.

Loveless also stated that nine individuals were initially reported to have , but the majority have since recovered.

“After assessment and receiving treatment, four individuals have been discharged, while two patients are still in a life-threatening state,” Loveless reported.

“A major incident was declared yesterday, and Counter Terrorism Policing initially assisted our inquiry; however, at this juncture, there is no indication that this is a terrorist incident. This remains a British Transport Police investigation. We are continuing efforts to ascertain the full circumstances and motive behind this incident. At this preliminary stage, it would not be fitting to speculate on the causes of the incident,” he further commented.

“The distressing incident on a train near Huntingdon is profoundly worrying,” he posted. “My thoughts are with all those impacted, and I extend my gratitude to the emergency services for their prompt response. Anyone in the vicinity should adhere to police guidance.”

The local football club also extended its thoughts and prayers following the attack.

“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Huntingdon Town FC tonight are with the victims and their families from this evening’s local incident,” the club posted on X around 11 p.m. local time Saturday. “We also send our thanks and thoughts to colleagues in the police, ambulance, and other agencies providing support who are also affected.”
