A White House official confirmed that a video, which surfaced online on Monday depicting an item being tossed from the executive mansion, captured a contractor performing maintenance duties.
Initially shared on an Instagram account named “Washingtonianprobs,” the footage rapidly gained traction across social media platforms, sparking commentary on White House security procedures and conjectures regarding the discarded objects. The video depicts an individual in white pants extending a foot onto a second-floor White House windowsill, then dropping what seems to be a black plastic bag. Subsequently, another item, long and white, is thrown from the window. The President’s private quarters are situated on the White House’s second floor.
Responding to inquiries about the visuals, the White House official stated, “A contractor was conducting routine maintenance while the President was absent.”
President Trump spent Sunday and the Labor Day holiday on Monday at his golf club in Sterling, Virginia. The Associated Press reports he is scheduled to deliver an address from the Oval Office on Tuesday afternoon to announce the relocation of headquarters from Colorado to Alabama.
