TIME, collaborating with Statista, a premier global provider of market and consumer insights and rankings, has launched its inaugural annual “” list. Employers are instrumental in shaping a nation’s workforce. However, employee contentment in the workplace not only influences company culture but also impacts productivity, innovation, profitability, and industry standing. Below is an explanation of the selection process for the winners.

Methodology

The research initiative “” was developed based on surveys conducted via various online access panels to guarantee a representative employee sample across each country, commencing with , , and . In , 200,000 employer assessments were carried out for companies from all sectors employing a minimum of 200 individuals in the country. In , over 800,000 employer assessments were conducted for companies with at least 800 employees in the country. In , more than 500,000 employer evaluations were performed for companies employing at least 500 people in the country. Participants were prompted, using an open-ended question with an auto-complete feature, to identify their current employer. This approach ensures impartiality and prevents companies from influencing who is selected to respond.

Employers received scores based on a combination of two evaluation types: employees’ readiness to recommend their own employer (direct score) and their readiness to recommend other employers within the same industry (indirect perception score).

For the direct score, participants were asked to rate how willing they would be to recommend their employer to friends and family. Responses were graded on a scale from 0 to 10, where 0 signified “I would not recommend my employer under any circumstances” and 10 meant “I would certainly recommend my employer”.

Regarding the indirect score, employees were questioned about their inclination to recommend other employers within their sector. Respondents were presented with an industry list of employers and asked to provide an opinion on those that stood out, whether positively or negatively (Response choices: “would recommend”, “would not recommend”, “no opinion”). Additionally, an open-ended question allowed respondents to mention other employers.

Direct recommendations are given greater weight because they provide the strongest indication of employee satisfaction.

This ranking captures not only how employees view their own place of work but also how companies are perceived across their industry, resulting in a balanced and independent assessment of leading employers.
