THE Department of Education (Deped) has allowed private schools to continue the conduct of blended learning even beyond November 2, 2022.

The agency issued DepEd order 44 on Monday, October 17, 2022, which amended its Order 34 that sets the school calendar and activities for School Year 2022 to 2023.

The new order said that private schools may either conduct five days in person classes; blended learning modality provided that three or four days will be face-to-face; or full distance learning.

The DepEd reiterated that starting November 2, all public schools should have transitioned to five-day face-to-face classes.

“After the said date, no public school shall be allowed to implement purely distance learning or blended learning, except for those that are expressly provided an exemption by the regional director, those whose classes are automatically cancelled due to disaster and calamities, and those implementing Alternative Delivery Modes, as provided for in DO 021, s. 2019, titled Policy Guidelines on the K to 12 Basic Education Program and DO 001, s. 2022 titled Revised Policy Guidelines on Homeschooling Program,” the order stated.

The concerned regional director will issue a separate memorandum relative to the exemption.

The face-to-face classes resumed in 2022, two years after the shift to distance learning modality due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic. (SunStar Philippines)
