A RADIO broadcaster was shot dead on Wednesday morning, May 31, 2023, in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

In a report, the Police Regional Office (PRO) Mimaropa identified the victim as Cresenciano Bunduquin, 50, a radio host at DWXR 101.7 Kalahi FM.

Police said Bunduquin was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding suspects around 4:20 a.m. in front of a sari-sari store along C5 road in Barangay Sta. Isabel.

Bunduquin was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

During a hot pursuit operation, one of the alleged suspects in the attack was killed while the other is still being located.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Benjamin Acorda Jr. has ordered the immediate activation of a Special Investigation Task Group to handle the investigation.

“This will pave the way for a deeper probe to expedite the gathering of pieces of evidence and testimonies. We are maximizing our efforts to get more pieces of evidence and testimonies in order to shed light on this incident and facilitate the immediate arrest of the perpetrators,” he said.

“While his work as a media representative involves discussion of critical issues, we cannot fully conclude as of this time that the motive is work-related, but we are exploring all possible angles as of this time,” he added. (SunStar Philippines)
