THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday, October 28, 2022, advised overseas voters looking to participate in the October 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) to transfer their voter registration records locally.

In a statement, Comelec Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said those registered as overseas voters will need to be registered locally if they intend to vote or run in the next BSKE.

“Overseas voters who intend to participate in the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections must transfer their registration record from overseas to local,” said Laudiangco.

He said transfer of registration records may take place as soon as the period for local voter registration resumes on December 9, 2022.

“They have until 31 January 2023 to file their application at the Office of the Election Officer in the locality where they intend to vote,” said Laudiangco.

On Thursday, the Comelec announced that voter registration activities are set to resume on December 9, 2022 and will run until January 31, 2023.

The poll body, however, hinted at the possibility of extending the voter registration period with the next BSKE set for October 2023. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
