OVER 400 additional cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) Omicron subvariants were detected in the Philippines.Based on the latest genome sequencing results, the Department of Health (DOH) on Friday, September 9, 2022, reported that it was able to detect 425 additional BA.5 cases, 10 additional BA.4 cases and 1 additional BA.2.75 cases.Among additional BA.5 cases, 214 were from Western Visayas, 146 from Davao Region, 21 from Soccsksargen, 19 from Calabarzon, nine from Metro Manila, seven from Central Visayas, five from Central Luzon, two from Northern Mindanao and one each from Caraga and Bangsamoro.Of the additional BA.4 cases, seven came from Davao Region, two from Soccsksargen and one from Northern Mindanao.The lone additional BA.2.75 case, meanwhile, came from the Davao Region.The additional Omicron subvariant cases were detected from the 467 samples sequenced between September 5 to 7.
