A WEEK after Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Susan Ople arrived home with over 100 distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), over 350 more were welcomed on Friday, September 23, 2022, by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa).In a social media post, Owwa announced the arrival of 353 OFWs from Saudi Arabia on Friday afternoon at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Parañaque City.”The Owwa Repatriation Team welcomed 353 OFWs from Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on board flight PR8629,” said Owwa.It said the OFWs were welcomed by DMW Assistant Secretary Venecio Legazpi and Owwa Deputy Administrator Honey Quiño.Just last week, Ople arrived with 101 distressed OFWs from Jeddah, KSA.Ople came from Saudi Arabia after holding a series of bilateral talks with her counterparts.The dialogue resulted in the lifting of the OFW deployment ban to Saudi Arabia.Aside from the lifting of the deployment ban, the Philippines and KSA also agreed to work together “to facilitate the decent and productive employment of OFWs and ensure the protection of their rights.” (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
