In a statement, NTC legal department officer-in-charge lawyer Andres Castelar Jr. said that from an average of 1,500 complaints per day about text scams, it went down to 100 per day.
According to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), as of March 12, a total of 44,298,445 subscribers or 26.22 percent of the 168,977,773 subscribers across the country have registered their SIM Card since President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. signed into law Republic Act 11934 also known as the SIM Registration Act.
The DICT is eyeing to extend for another 120 days the deadline for SIM registration which is supposedly on April 26 to give more time for other subscribers.
The DICT and NTC have launched information campaigns to encourage more subscribers to have their SIMs registered. (SunStar Philippines)
