EMPLOYEES who are not able to go to work on Friday, January 24, 2023, will not be entitled to any holiday pays.

This as the “no work, no pay” policy is in effect for Friday’s special non-working day in commemoration of the Edsa People Power Revolution.

“If the employee does not work, the ‘no work, no pay’ principle shall apply, unless there is a favorable company policy, practice, or collective bargaining agreement,” said the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in its Labor Advisory No. 02 – 2023.

For work done during the special non-working day, the employer shall pay the employee an additional 30 percent of the basic wage on the first eight hours of work, and an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate on the said day for overtime work.

As for work done during the special non-working day that also falls on the employee’s rest day, the employer shall pay the employee an additional 50 percent of the basic wage on the first eight hours of work, and an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate on said day for overtime work.

On Thursday, Malacañang released Proclamation No. 167, which moved the special non-working day commemorating the 37th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution from February 25 to February 24.
