THE seven-day Covid-19 positivity rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) may dip to less than five percent, which is within the recommended threshold of the World Health Organization (WHO), with about 100 new cases per day by the end of November, Octa Research said on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

Octa fellow Doctor Guido David said the seven-day positivity rate in the NCR from November 1 to 7 went down further at 7.8 percent from 9.5 percent during the prior week.

The latest data is the new lowest positivity rate in the region since July.

David earlier said the peak positivity rate in NCR in the current Covid-19 wave was on October 4 at 19.1 percent.

David said the average daily attack rate (Adar) in the region was 1.54 per 100,000 population as of November 8, with a one-week growth rate of -29 percent, while the reproduction number “remained low” at 0.75 as of November 5.

The healthcare utilization rate also remained low at 26 percent as of November 7.

“The current trends, if they continue, could lead to less than 5 percent positivity rate and about 100 new cases per day in the NCR by end of November,” said David. (SunStar Philippines)
