WITH labor inspection activities already set to resume in 2023, the Bureau of Working Conditions (BWC) said all labor inspectors are already undergoing training.

BWC Director Alvin Curada said all Labor Laws Compliance Officers (LLCOs) are undergoing training while labor inspection activities are temporarily suspended.

“We have several training programs prepared in order to capacitate our labor inspectors,” said Curada.

“We just finished with our first level of labor inspection capacity building ahead of the resumption of inspection activities,” he added.

The labor official said the training program is part of their preparations for the resumption of labor inspection activities in January 2023.

“This is so that our labor inspectors will be better prepared for the 2023 inspection targets,” noted Curada.

Since December 1, 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has suspended all labor inspection activities in the country.

The suspension aims to provide all DOLE regional offices the time to attend to all pending labor standards cases for the year.

It also seeks to provide the DOLE field offices to hold early preparations for the inspection program for 2023. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
