The PCO said Garafil took her oath of office administered by Marcos in Malacañang on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.
Under Executive Order 11 signed by Marcos on December 29, 2022, the OPS was renamed as PCO.
PCO is now among the five major offices under the Office of the President along with the Executive Office, Office of the Chief Presidential Legal Counsel (OCPLC), Private Office, and Office of the Special Assistant to the President (Osap).
It is responsible for crafting, formulating, developing, enhancing, and coordinating the messaging system of the executive branch and the Office of the President.
Marcos appointed Garafil as the chairperson of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in June 2022 before she was tapped as the OPS OIC in October following the resignation from the post of Attorney Trixie Cruz-Angeles.
Garafil had previously served as service director at the Committee on Rules of the House of Representatives, Department of Justice prosecutor and State Solicitor for the Office of the Solicitor General. (SunStar Philippines)
