AUTHORITIES arrested a 59-year-old female traveler from Norway following the recovery of P56.7 million worth of substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) in her luggage, the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement group (PDEG) said on Friday, October 28, 2022.

PDEG director Brigadier General Narciso Domingo identified the arrested person as Rose Alex Moi, a resident of Hovik, Norway who traveled from Dubai to Manila.

Moi was arrested during an interdiction operation by operatives of PDEG-Intelligence and Foreign Liaison Division together with the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group at the NAIA Terminal 3 in Pasay City around 12:30 a.m. Friday.

Authorities conducted a search on Moi’s luggage after they suspected that it was containing illegal contraband following a screening.

Found inside her luggage were 8.3 kilograms of shabu.

Charges for the violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect. (SunStar Philippines)
