GENERAL Jose Faustino Jr. has stepped down as officer-in-charge of the Department of National Defense (DND), Office of the Press Secretary OIC Cheloy Garafil said on Monday, January 9, 2023.

Garafil said President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has accepted Faustino’s resignation and subsequently appointed Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. to the post.

She said Galvez accepted the offer.

Galvez, who is also a retired military official, served as the chief implementer of the National Task Force Against Coronavirus Disease 2019 under the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

On Friday, January 6, Marcos also appointed a new Armed Forces of the Philippines chief-of-staff, General Andres Centino, who took the helm of the military organization on Saturday, January 7, 2023. (SunStar Philippines)
