THE coronavirus disease (Covid-19) positivity rate is increasing in several provinces in the country, said Octa Research fellow Dr. Guido David on Thursday, October 13, 2022.

In a Twitter post, David said the positivity rate is decreasing in the National Capitol Region (NCR), but it is very high in Camarines Sur, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, South Cotabato, Tarlac, and Zambales, as of October 11.

Based on the data David provided, at least 12 provinces in the country have seen an increase in their positivity rates.

Leading the list is Tarlac with a positivity rate above 50 percent, or 51.8 percent on October 11 from 34.8 percent on October 8.

Camarines Sur’s positivity rate increased from 37.1 percent to 46.2 percent, while Zambales has 33.6 percent from 20.4 percent.

NCR’s rate decreased from 17.9 percent on October 8 to 15.0 percent on October 11.

David also noted that three local government units in the country had above 50 percent Covid-19 healthcare utilization (HCUR) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) occupancy rates.

The other provinces, including NCR, were below 50 percent.

The Department of Health reported on Wednesday, October 12, 1,623 new Covid-19 cases.

This brought the total tally nationwide to 3.97 million, with 63,363 deaths and 3.88 million recoveries. (LMY/SunStar Philippines)
