A TAGUIG City court issued on Monday, September 19, 2022, an arrest warrant against actor-comedian Ferdinand “Vhong” Navarro over charges of act of lasciviousness. In a decision issued by Judge Angela Francesca Din of the Branch 116 of the Taguig Metropolitan Court, she said she found probable cause to hold Navarro for a trial on the charges filed against him by model Deniece Cornejo. The court recommended a P36,000 bail. The host was also ordered to submit photographs showing his front, right and left profile within five days.Following the issuance of the arrest warrant, Navarro surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).In July, the Court of Appeals (CA) reversed the 2018 and 2020 ruling of the Department of Justice (DOJ) that junked the rape cases filed by Cornejo against Navarro in 2014.The CA ordered the filing of acts of lasciviousness against Navarro over the January 22, 2014 incident where he allegedly tried to rape Cornejo inside her condo unit in Bonifacio Global City.In the rape case filed by Cornejo, she claimed that Navarro did the crime on January 17, 2014 also inside her condo unit. The January 22 incident had led to the mauling of Navarro by Cornejo’s friends, including Cedric Lee and Jed Fernandez, inside the condo unit.Navarro said Cornejo, Lee and their companions tried to extort him P2 million and forced him to confess to attempting to rape the model. The group beat and tied up Navarro and brought him to the police station afterwards.Navarro filed charges against the group and the court ruled in his favor.Lee, Cornejo and Jed Fernandez were convicted of grave coercion and were sentenced to three years and six months imprisonment, while a case for serious illegal detention is still pending.
