THE Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is calling on the Filipino faithful to be generous amid the Christmas season.

In his Christmas message, CBCP President Bishop Pablo David said the Yuletide season is a call for the faithful to share blessings with others.

“I think Christmas is an invitation to a generous life, and that we should not be selfish in life,” said David.

“Life has no worth if you just keep it to yourself. That is the basic message of Christmas,” he added.

The prelate noted how no less than God showcased generosity when He sent His Son during the first Christmas.

“This is the message of Christ. That He was sent to the world to give His life,” said David.

He added that even the religious song “Pananagutan” echoed such a message to the faithful through its line “walang sino man ang nabubuhay para sa sarili lamang.”

“What the song really means is life is worthless if it is only meant for oneself,” said David.

On Sunday, December 25, the Catholic faithful worldwide will celebrate Christmas.
