THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set the special polls in the Seventh District of Cavite on February 25, 2023.

Based on Comelec Resolution No. 10848, the poll body said the special elections for the replacement of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla as congressman of the Seventh District of Cavite will be held on a Saturday.

“Casting of votes will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.,” said the Comelec.

“Counting and canvassing of votes and proclamation of winning candidates (will be held) immediately after closing of polls,” it added.

The poll body said the period for filing certificates of candidacy (COC) will be from December 5 to 6, 2022.

During the same days, voter registration activities shall be suspended, Comelec said.

The election period, meanwhile, has been set from January 26, 2023 to March 12, 2023.

The campaign period will run from January 26, 2023 to February 23, 2023.

The last day to file their statement of contributions and expenditures shall be on March 10, 2023.

The special polls were set for the election of the new representative of the Seventh District of Cavite after it was vacated by Remulla.

This was after the House of Representatives passed a resolution declaring a vacancy in the Seventh District of Cavite, thereby requiring the conduct of special elections. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
